2009 is here! Every year I make New Year's resolutions - and by mid-February I have forgotten or been unable to keep to them. Most of us make long detailed lists of unobtainable goals every new year. Interestingly enough, I was reading Ali Edwards blog and she talked about choosing a word to create a theme relating to what you want for your life during the upcoming year. On her blog she has a long list of words to chose from. You can check out this list by clicking on the following link: http://aliedwards.typepad.com/_a_/2009/01/2009-words.html
The project itself is to take photos of everyday life and create a unique photo journal about your life in 2009. You should take 2-5 photos throughout each week. The photos should be of everyday life. For example, it could be your kids having breakfast, it could be your cup of coffee that you try to quietly enjoy every morning, it could be brand new running shoes that are waiting to be broken in, or a sink full of dishes, the book you are reading, your scrap space, your child drawing, or the tulips emerging from the frozen ground. It isn't about the subject matter- it is about why it is important, how it affects your life, and how it makes you feel. As much as the photos will be an integral part of my project - the journaling will be as important - if not more important than the photos. As with many other wives, mothers and women - we often find ourselves behind the scenes. We are behind the camera, we are hosting the parties and events, we are the story tellers as well. However, we don't tell these stories from our perspective. It is usually the who, what, when and where. This project will give you the opportunity to write about yourself, your life, the people and things that are important to you and how they make you feel - and how these things relate to your "theme" for 2009.
I will tell you that my word for 2009 is "BALANCE". I will tell you that I am a firm believer that life isn't made up of birthday parties & vacations, it is made up of lots of little moments. For me - 2009 is a time to stop and smell the roses and find balance in my crazy busy life.
If you are interested this project - join us at the store on Thursday, February 12th from 6:30pm - 9:00pm to get started on your book. If you have always wanted to make an altered chipboard book - this is a great opportunity to give it a try! Bring whatever photos you have taken so far, we will have books available for you to get started. The book itself will be about $12.00. Beyond that, you can purchase any supplies you want to use. Bring stuff from home - or you purchase what you need. it is entirely up to you. We will never charge a class fee for these workshops! Since this is an ongoing project - we will continue to meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 6:30 - 9pm to work on our books. If you aren't able to come to the first workshop - you are welcome to join in at anytime throughout the year. Please know that by starting this project - that it doesn't by any means commit you to coming to the workshops every month. Just join us when you can.
If you are interested in reserving a spot on for our February 12th workshop - send me a quick email to RSVP at kimberly@hip2bsquarescrapbooking.com or call the store at 425-396-1277.
