"Throughout my life I've kept a journal. When I was introduced to scrapbooking after my first child was born almost 10 years ago, it was a wonderful hobby to throw myself into. Scrapbooking is a natural transition from my journals. My family is the main subject of my scrapbooking, though at times I enjoy scrapping scenery shots or just random photos about whatever. My style varies from simple and linear to funky and eclectic--whatever I'm feeling like that day or whatever fun products I have to play with!  My husband and kids often spend time looking at the books I have created, which makes the hobby even more rewarding to me. I am excited to be doing design work for Kimberly. Her store is amazing and she does incredible work sharing her passion with her customers and friends."

Hi I'm Deana. wife to Bob & mom to Bryn.  I've been in love with taking photos & making scrapbooks for as long as I can remember.  I didn't go digital until December '07 because I never liked the quality of photos as much as 35mm film.  Once I found a really good digital camera, though, it's been life-changing & I haven't looked back!  I was always a fan of "1-hour photo developing," so to be able to print at home makes me very happy!  Aside from being addicted to scrapbooking & card-making, I also love fashion, travel, working-out, music, interior design, dancing, chocolate, volunteering at school, my family & friends and most of all being a MOM!  Thank you so much for this opportunity.   I am so honored to be a Designer for Hip   2-b Square Scrapbooking.

"I have been happily married to Jeff for over 20 years.  We have a son (Cameron) and a daughter (Samantha).  I have been scrapping probably all of my life, I would take pictures out of magazines and brochures to post into my photo albums next to the pictures.  I started to really get into scrapbooking after our son was born.  He is the perfect subject to get my creative imagination working.  Now that I have a daughter I get to start using all the pink and girly products.  I have always loved photography and scrapbooking is a great way to enhance my photos.   I am honored that Kimberly has asked me to join the design team.  It is a challenge to make a layout with only the items that are included in the Hip Kit Club each month, and I love a challenge. "

"Hi, my name is Susan Bourgeois and I live in New Iberia, Louisiana. My little area of the world is known as the heart of Cajun country. I am a wife and mom to four children as well as an elementary teacher. I have always been into some kind of crafting or another. I began scrapping as a way to preserve memories for my children. Before I knew it I had developed an obsession! I love absolutely everything about this artform. I love the supplies, the processing of putting the layout together so that it is appealing, finding just the right journaling to compliment my layout. I especially love sharing with others."

Hello! I'm Cheryl. I'm an engineer turned stay-at-home mom to my beautiful 4 year old daughter, Payton. I'm married to Jason and we live in Wisconsin. We are owned by a purebred Persian cat named Belle. I also enjoy gardening, travel, yoga, and Pilates.  I've been scrapbooking for six years.  . My favorite subjects to scrapbook are my daughter and my travels around the world.  I describe my scrapbooking style as a mix of "engineer" and "embellishments," using clean and linear elements combined with splashes of flourishes, rhinestones, and flowers. I crave working with the newest products in the industry, experimenting with new techniques, participating in challenges, and sharing my love of scrapbooking with others.

A great little accordion book.

by Kimberly 20. May 2009 11:07

This little accordion book is made out of a regular old file folder.

  • Take a letter size file folder and cut it in half, and then cut one half down to 8.5" x 11".
  • Score the folder horizontally 2" from the bottom.  Fold the bottom of the folder to form the pocket.
  • Then score the folder vertically in quarters (2.75").  Then you can accordion fold your book.   +
  • Tape three 2" strips of ribbon to the front cover of the book, and then  tape the other ends of the ribbon strips to the back side of the book to create the binding.
  • Cover the front and the back of the book with patterned paper.  Cover the bottom portion of the pockets with patterned paper as well.
  • Secure the pockets by setting an eyelet in the front and back cover.
  • Thread a 12 inch piece if ribbon through the eyelets so that you can tie your little book shut.
  • Take the unused half of the folder and make 2.5" x 4" tags.  Cover one side with a contrasting patterned paper.
  • Set eyelets through the top of each tag.  Tie decorative ribbon through each tag to add texture.
  • Stamp a journaling block on the blank side of each tag.
  • Embellish your tags and your book with flowers, buttons, chipboard or whatever strikes your fancy.
  • (note:   the paper I used didn't have any black accents on it - so I used a pen and doodled around the border of the paper and around each flower.  This little trick tied the black and white accents together with the rest of the project)

My 10 Favorite Things Mini Book - Kit

by Kimberly 20. May 2009 08:37

This is an awesome little mini book that we did for a class.  It is approximately 5.5" x 5.5".  It has a lot of detail and texture.  We have kits available for purchase for $25.00 while supplies last .  (SOLD OUT) Give us a call at the store and we can process your purchase over the phone.  We can even ship it to you.  This is a fabulously easy project with a great "wow" factor.   Everything is cut, stamped and prepped - all you have to do is assemble it and punch holes in each page to bind it together.  Just follow the the photos below and it will be a breeze.  The only supplies you will need are adhesive, glue dots, scissors and a hole punch and an optional distressing ink pad.

Add texture to the numbers by running your fingernail along the edge of the paper.  Make sure to hold the paper taut as it makes it much easier.  This technique will fray and distress the edges of your numbers making them more interesting to look at.

Glue dots work well to attach both ribbon and flowers.  Use Pop-Dots (foam 3-d adhesive squares) to give dimension.

Each page is designed to hold a standard size wallet photo.  (2.5" x 3.5")

To bind the book - stack all pages together and punch two holes to thread the ribbon through.  If you are using a traditional whole punch you may need to punch the cover first, then use those holes as a guide for the remaining pages.  Once the holes have been punched - thread the narrow black and white stitched ribbon through each page.  Then tie a knot to secure the pages together.  Make sure there is some slack in the ribbon so that you can easily turn the pages.  You will then tie the extra ribbon around each ribbon loop to give it that "fringed" look.
