May 2012 Hip Kit… Fabulous layouts and cards by Cindy Stevens…

Hi Everyone!

It’s Kimberly here with you tonight!  I got a little bit behind posting our May Hip Kit layouts this month.  I have been down with a nasty chest cold for the past week, and everything fell behind.  :)  I am on the mend now and things are getting back on schedule again.  :)

Tonight, I want to share several projects created by our talented Cindy Stevens using our beautiful May 2012 Hip Kit.  I love that Cindy creates 8.5 x 11 layouts.  In seems that over the years that layout size went by the way side in favor of a 12x12 layout.  With all of the different sizes and styles of page protectors these days you can easily combine all different sized layouts into one album.  After seeing all of the wonderful things that Cindy & Bethany have created on a 8.5x11 layout – I am inspired to jump in with both feet and create an 8.5x11 page myself – and I challenge you to give it a try as well.  Post your layout on our Facebook page for a chance to win a wonderful package of scrapbooking goodies.  We will choose a random winner on July 10th!  So get creating for your chance to win.

On this 1st layout, I love how Cindy incorporated the Mister Huey’s Mists & Chevron Mask from our May Embellishment Add-On Kit on her layout.  She created a subtle chevron pattern on a plain white cardstock background.  She hand cut flowers from the Basic Grey Daisy Mae paper and combined them with the My Mind’s Eye buttons to create custom embellishments for her layout.  Cindy arranges her alphabet stickers for her titles on cardstock and then cuts around the entire word in order to make her title stand out.

Cindy takes photos of her son’s cards and artwork.  It is so difficult to keep each drawing and note that our kids create.  Taking photos of them enables us to keep them forever in digital form and then you can keep the originals of the most cherished pieces.  On this layout used photos of the handmade gifts from her son along with other important details from her Mother’s Day celebration.  I love how this page really captures her day.

Here is a wonderful collection of cards that Cindy created using our May kit.  I love how she matted some of the Dear Lizzy stickers on cardstock and used pop dots to give dimension.

This darling tag would be the perfect decoration for any gift bag or package.  It has the perfect mix of patterned paper and the splash of yellow is a beautiful accent.

The card says it all…  “sweet”…

This card features the Smash Washi Tape from our main kit.  Cindy used the different swatches of washi tape to create the patterned background, flag banner and decorative circles for her card.  What a creative way to use this tape!IMG_6373

This card also features flag banners created with the washi tape.  Love this idea!

I hope Cindy’s project have inspired you to pull out your May Hip Kit and create something wonderful…  Maybe even an 8.5x11 layout…

Hi all!
Bethany here again with another layout created with our  fabulous
May Hip Kit.  Recently I've been snapping a LOT of pictures with the super fun Instagram app on my phone.   I've decided to start an album for these fun pics....so here's my first ever 8.5"x11" layout!   I think this will be a great size to work with for my Instagram album!

Bethany9 - Layout 2 CHEERS

I used the fantastic Studio Calico chevron mask and Mister Huey's Opaque White from the May Embellishment Kit on this layout.  Super fun texture on that dark Crate Paper, eh?  Totally love it!

If you have never created an 8.5"x11" layout give it a try! It was really fun to try something new and get the perspective of creating on this smaller scale - without it being too mini. There's still plenty of room for all those fun embellishments from the Hip Kits on this size layout! Be sure to check out Pinterest for some more fun 8.5"x11" layout inspiration from the other Hip Kit Designers...

Hi everyone!
Bethany here today to share three cards that I created featuring the beautiful, bold floral 'Daisy Mae' paper from Basic Grey's PB&J collection that can be found in the
May Hip Kit...

The second card features 1.5" squares of specific flowers from the paper...  On this card, I cut down the 'oh so thrilled' sticker to match the paper squares and then put a pop dot under it for a bit of dimension.

And the third card features fussy cut flowers and leaves from the paper...

Hi there! It's Bethany again.
I really loved how our May Hip Kit was full of bold, bright happy colors and prints but also included a lot of softer, pastel colors and subtle patterned papers too!  Here are a few more layouts I created with our May Main & Add-On Kits...and I love how each layout has such a different feel, even though I used product from the SAME kit!

I created this layout to  document Mother's Day 2012.  (Just a note...you'll notice that a couple of the photos on my layout look a bit hazy, that's because of the Instagram filter I used on those snapshots.  I love how it gives those a bit of a grainy, vintage vibe!)…

Moms Day LO

I love the Dear Lizzy stickers included in this kit...they're perfect for layering and creating a sweet cluster of embellishments…

The foam Amy Tangerine Thickers are such a fun, bright green! Love the combo of that kelly green and the navy blue together...

May 2012 Hip Kit… Project Life layout by Melanie Jarocki…

Hi Everyone!

Melanie here… and today I am bringing you another Project Life spread. For these two pages I used our May Hip Kit.

Melanie-Project-Life

The Dear Lizzy stickers were the perfect accents for the week's events. I placed them on top of the divided page protectors for a little more flexibility in placement and also design.

Melanie-Project-Life1

For extra journaling info, I use a fine-tipped Sharpie to write in the margins of my photos.Melanie-Project-Life2

I used the fun washi tape from the kit to add borders to some of my journaling boxes.

How is your Project Life coming along? I'd love to see it so leave a link in the comments section if you have a project to share.

Hi Everyone!

It is LIsa here with you today and I want to share a two page Project Life spread that I did using the wonderful
May 2012 Hip Kit

If you aren’t familiar with Project Life, it is just a really simple way to capture and document life’s  little moments on a weekly or monthly basis.  You just add your photos into photo sleeves and add journaling cards with all of the stories and details that go along with your pictures.  It can be as basic as you would like, or if you are feeling really creative that week you can go to town with little details and embellishments.   It is quick, easy and completely stress free.  I love that the products included the May Hip Kit worked so well with this project.  I did pull a few little items from my stash, but the majority of it is included in the May Kit.

Here is my two page spread as you would see it in my album…

Here is the 1st page in more detail…

Hip Kits are so versatile.  Amazingly, with one kit I have been able to create several layouts, a few cards and a couple of great Project Life pages.

May 2012 Hip Kit… A few fun projects by Kristin Kingrey…

26. June 2012 10:14 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , ,   //   Comments
Hi Everyone…

It is Kristin here with you today.  I have been loving creating with our May Hip Kit.  It is so versatile.  I want to share a few of the projects that I have made using the products included in our May kit.
thinking of you cardLike Melanie, I was having a difficult time deciding how to use the cute little moped sticker from the Dear Lizzy Sticker Sheet.  I loved the sweet color palette on the moped, so I used that to determine the background and banner color for my card.  I pulled a sentiment stamp out of my stash, and “wah lah” here is a  cute little card that anyone would love to receive!

The blues, red and yellows in our May kit were perfect for my son's little league pictures. The bracket paper in the middle was cut using a We R Memory Keepers Lucky 8 punch. If you don't have a punch or die cut machine that can cut one of these, you can trace one out from another die cut paper you have on hand.

I am quite new at using masks, but I am really finding them to be a lot of fun.   It does take a little practice to figure out how much mist to use and what kind of coverage you want.  So make sure to pull out some scratch paper and play with them a bit before trying to use them on a project.  I love the chevron mask that was included in our May Embellishment Add-On Kit!!!  I used this mask as the inspiration for my page.

local adventures

I used chevrons everywhere on my layout,  I misted some using the mask, I hand cut some from the My Minds Eye Chevron paper, and I punched the red rickrack using  an decorative edge punch.

Thanks for stopping by today to see my projects.  I hope they have inspired you to pull out your May Kit and make some cards and layouts of your own.  Make sure to come back tomorrow for another great project made with our May Hip Kit.  Happy crafting!  xo – Kristin
