June 2012 Hip Kit… 1 Sketch–2 Ways by Lisa Wilkinson…

Hi Everyone!

It is Lisa here with you today.  I have had so much fun playing with our June Hip Kit using this sketch by Jillibean-Soup as the inspiration for one of my layouts!   Rather than creating just one page, I wanted to use the sketch TWO different ways...

Capture
For the first take, I simply dry brushed white craft paint onto a solid piece of kraft cardstock and then I used  several of the cut apart tags to create the base of my page.  Then I  embellished around the tags and added my pictures....

I also added some of the washi tape from a previous kit.  I adore how easy our Hip Kits mix and match from month to month!  It makes it a breeze to really use every little bit and piece of each amazing kit.:D

For the second take on this sketch I decided to create a Project Life layout for a week when I was healing from surgery and did not have many pictures or stories to share....  I really love the way it turned out!

Our Hip Kits are so full of pretty little things that are perfect for using on your “Project Life” layouts.  I love using these kits to create for these pages because they come together so quickly and easily.  With all of the fun products that are included in each kit,  I am able to add lots layering and embellishing to each these layouts.

Regardless of whether you are a traditional scrapbooker, a Project Life scrapbooker or both – our Hip Kits are a perfect fit for any of these projects.  I hope I have inspired you to pull your June Hip Kit out and get to work.  If you aren’t already a member – you should definitely consider signing up for the Hip Kit Club and you will receive one of these fabulous kits delivered right to your door each and every month. :)

Thanks for visiting us today!  Make sure to come back tomorrow to see the next great project created with our June kit.  We all love to hear from you – so make sure to leave a comment below!

June 2012 Hip Kit… A Wonderful Layout by Lisa Wilkinson

28. July 2012 17:57 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!

It is Lisa sharing with you today.  :D  I have to tell you that when I saw the colors in our June Hip Kit, I instantly thought of these pictures that I had in my "unscrapped" box.  I remembered that my daughter was wearing reds and blues but until now I had had a difficult time finding the right papers to coordinate with my photos.  The papers included in this kit were a perfect fit for these pictures.

DSC_0244

I started my layout with a few strips of patterned paper, a couple of the paper sacks that were included in our June Embellishment Add-On Kit.  Then I scattered a few of the My Mind’s Eye chipboard shapes and die cut borders  (also from our Embellishment Add-On Kit)  all over my page...

DSC_0245

To complete my page, I added some sprinkles of Mister Huey Mist from a previous month’s Embellishment Add-On Kit. I absolutely  love all the little bits and pieces in our June Kit.  They made embellishing my layout a breeze.

Thank you so much for visiting us today!  I hope my layout has inspired you to get scrapping with your June Hip Kit.  Make sure to come back tomorrow to see the next fabulous project created with our June kit.

June 2012 Hip Kit… 3 Fun Cards by Melanie Jarocki…

27. July 2012 09:20 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!

Melanie here today :)  I have a few projects to share with you today that I created with our June Hip Kit.  For the first one… all of the Hip 2b Square Design Team members  received three sketches by Simelle Laine to use as our inspiration for one of the cards that we create.

American Crafts Card Sketch Shimelle Laine

I chose to use the third sketch as my inspiration for this card…

Melanie-Card-Congrats

I backed the newspaper print paper with the yellow grid paper. At the bottom of the newspaper print is a thin strip of blue crosshatch paper. I added the tag, cut from the Crate Paper sheet, for an extra pop on the card. To add a little more definition to the tag, I zigzag stitched along the edge. The Echo Park B is for Boy sticker inspired the theme of my card and the mini green letters added the corresponding sentiment. To finish off the card, I added the Echo Park label sticker at the top, the My Minds Eye twine, and the inside letter dots to the corners of the boy sticker.

I will tell you that I absolutely love all of the blue and red in this kit.  These colors along with the Echo Park sticker sentiment inspired my second card.

To add some interesting detail, I fussy cut five different flowers from the Basic Grey pattern paper. Then I layered them, along with the silver stick pins.

Kimberly puts together such great kits. The blue, red, yellow, and kraft blend together so well on this card. At first I hadn't put the MME kraft border with the red diagonal stripes on the card. But I felt the card needed just a touch of more definition and by adding that border it finished it off nicely.

The stickers from the Echo Park This & That collection that are included in our June Hip Kit have made their way onto every project I've made with this kit. It is such a fun and versatile sheet of stickers.

I love the sticker of the boy with the animals and thought the "So Happy When We're Together" sentiment matched it perfectly.

Melanie-Card-Happy

Layering it with some of the pattern papers and the red tickets that were included in our June Embellishment Add-On Kit – made this fun card come together.  I love banners--as you well know--so the banner stickers from the sheet were the first thing I reached for to finish off the card. I backed each pennant sticker with cardstock and "hung" it with the MME twine. When I finished this card, I loved how it seemed neutral with the white background and brown chevron print, yet the pops of color in the layers gives it a cheerful, happy feel.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope I have inspired you to create a few cards of your own using your June Hip Kit.  Make sure to visit us again tomorrow to see the next great project we have to share with you.

June 2012 Hip Kit… A great sketch inspired layout by Melanie Jarocki…

19. July 2012 16:19 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , , ,   //   Comments

Hello! Melanie here sharing the first layout that I made with our June Hip Kit!  This month's sketch (from Jillibean Soup) is full of fun!Capture

For my layout I changed things up a bit, inspired by the grid-look of the sketch, and went with what worked best with my photos.

Melanie-LO-Gifts

I used one of the awesome lined bags in the kit for my journaling area. The banner pennants are cut out from the Echo Park paper. By outlining the chipboard letters in "GIFTS" it helps the title stand out a bit more.

It is always fun to see the different interpretations of the sketch that Kimberly provides for us each month.  Be sure to link yours up in the comments section or post your layout inspired by this sketch on our FACEBOOK page.  :)  We love to see what you do!!!

June 2012 Hip Kit… A Great “BOY” Page by Lisa Wilkinson…

16. July 2012 15:38 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone…

It is Lisa here today and a have a great layout to share with you that I made using our June Hip Kit!  I absolutely love all the blues in this kit and I knew that I wanted to make a boy page of my older son.  I chose to layer several patterned papers along various embellishments onto the blue cardstock.  My title is quite long, and rather than having my title run across my page, I decided to have it run vertically instead.  This creates a nice vertical line on my page.

Our June kit has tons of alphabet stickers!  I mixed the chipboard Thickers and the green Jillibean-Soup mini Alphabeans from our main kit with the aqua foam Thickers from our June Embellishment Add-On Kit to create my title.  I also created a couple of epoxy stickers using my Epiphany Button Maker along with a couple of numbers on the Echo Park “This and That” Border paper.  These little numbers were the exact same size as my button maker.  Lucky me!!!  Another nice detail on my layout was the “Notes” tab that I stamped using the Elle’s Studio “Notes” clear stamp  that was also included in our June Embellishment Add-On Kit.  I stamped it using black ink and I think it added a nice contrast to my layout.DSC_1367

I also added a little misting and some machine stitching to give my layout a few more little details.  (note:  the burlap flower was not included in our Hip Kit).

I hope that my layout has given you some inspiration to create a project with one of your Hip Kits.  Leave a comment on this post… I would love to hear from you!!!

June 2012 Hip Kit… A Couple of Fun Layouts by Kristin Kingrey…

16. July 2012 04:17 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!

It is Kristin here with you today.  I have a couple of layouts that I want to share with you that I created with our amazing June 2012 Hip Kit.

I am just now figuring out the Instagram craze, and have started taking some Instagram photos with my iPhone.  It is so much fun.  My kids are loving taking pics on my phone too.  My first layout features this great Instagram photo that we took trying to get all of us in the in in the shot.  There is a feature where you can format photo to have that retro 70's polaroid feel.

The Echo Park sticker sheet has some really sweet sentiments that are perfect for family pages, and the camera sticker was fit perfectly on my page.

The Studio Calico Mistable Cameras are so much fun!  I sprayed the one on my layout with Mister Huey Mist to give it a pop of color.  I also used added some paint splatters to the kraft cardstock using red, blue and white mists.  This gives my page a playful whimsical look.

instafun_2

I added layers of different patterned papers along with couple of tags cut from the Story Teller Tag Cuts paper.  I wanted my layout to have a random feel, so I just played with all of the layers and tags and other embellishments until I got them placed where I wanted them.  I finished my page by adding a bit of black ribbon from my stash to each of the tags.

I love how versatile our June Hip Kit is - there are so many great papers and embellishments  to choose from.  Every single project that I have created this month has had a totally different look and feel to it.  This next layout has such great texture and dimension.  One of my favorite papers in this month’s kit was the Echo Park This & That Border paper.  It had some great little sentiments, some awesome patterned strips along with a bunch of fun icons – so many options in just one sheet of paper!  :D  I used the “Remember this moment forever” and the “You make the world go round” quotes on this layout.  I also hand cut the little flags out of that same paper.
Amazing

I LOVED the felt die cut border and Kraft Funday Chipboard Accents included in the June Embellishment Add-On Kit.   I layered the “Practically perfect…” sticker to one of the smaller Storyteller tags to make it stand out a bit more.  I clustered that with a few of the Miss Caroline buttons a chipboard accent.  I love how this came together.

I hope that my layouts have inspired you to pull out your June Hip Kit and get creating with it!  Leave a comment on my post…  I would love to hear from you!  If you create a project that you want to share with us…  post it on our Facebook page!

June 2012 Hip Kit… A great sketch inspired card by Bethany Crowell…

Hi all!
It is Bethany…  Kimberly asked each of the design team members to create a card using our
June Hip Kit and one of these sketches by Shimelle Laine for American Crafts.  I want to share this fun card that I made using the 1st sketch and flipped it upside down...

American Crafts Card Sketch Shimelle Laine

2012-07-04 00_15_34

I created this card using a combination of products from the fantastic main kit and the fun embellishment add-on kit. I'm totally in love with the canvas Studio Calico cameras and the awesome patterned paper from Studio Calico's Class Calico that has the mini polaroid frames on it! For this card I cut one of the little frames out to add to the layering...

The sentiment was created with the SMASH label maker from my own tool kit - but everything else can be found in the June Main Hip Kit and Embellishment Add On Kit! :)
