(note: I cut a heart out of chipboard and painted it with Tim Holtz Broken China Crackle Paint, distressed it with a brown ink pad and sprayed it with Mustard Seed Glimmer Mist. The Glimmer Mist washed the ink down into the cracks in the paint making them more noticeable and it left a shimmery finish on the surface of the heart.)
note: the scalloped edge was created using our Designer Pick Product for April - (Fiskar's Scalloped Border Punch) It is quick and easy - and allows you to create a perfect scallop every time. (note: I added Ranger Glossy Accents to the Thickers and some of the stickers to give them a different texture and to make them pop out a little more. This is a great product to take an embellishment from ordinary to fabulous.) (note: Heavy or top stitching thread makes your stitching really stand out. Make sure to use a heavier needle on your machine as well. Stitching adds such great detail to your projects. I have a very basic machine that I picked up a Target for under $100.00 and I have more than gotten my moneys worth out of it.)
(note: I changed the color of the alphabet by using Espresso Alcohol Ink. It took about 2 minutes. Alcohol Inks work really well on any non-porous surface - as they dry within seconds and don't smear. After changing the color, I added some Glossy Accents to give them a little shine.) (note: I added Glossy Accents to this plain cardstock sticker - it gave it texture and dimension. I cut the circles out of the Giddy Grasshopper paper and distressed the edges by scraping my fingernail against the edge of each circle. You can also achieve this same effect by using an edge distresser or a pair of scissors.) Another scalloped edge using the Fiskar's Scallop Border Punch - adds a great little detail to a very simple layout. |
