Hi Everyone!
I want to introduce you to Lisa Wilkinson, our awesome June Hip 2-b Square Guest Designer!!! Lisa lives in New Hampshire with her husband and 6 children. She is a talented photographer and cardmaker, and scrapbooker. I am thrilled to have her join us this month. Trust me, you are going to love everything that she creates!!!  Welcome Lisa!!!

Here are a few fun facts about Lisa…

  1. When did you start scrapbooking?   I started scrapbooking about 15 years ago when I had traveled oversees to work with Teen Missions in Ukraine and needed a place to put my story. A good friend purchased my first set of supplies as a welcome home gift to me! It started this beautiful journey of memory keeper and I will always treasure that gift!
  2. Where do you draw most of your inspiration from?  A photo, product or something else?  I am most inspired by pictures of what I love... it could be my family, something around my home, or where I live. They tell our stories and that inspires me. It is more than a hobby, but our life, in art.... oh and a good scrapbook kit {note: a HIP kit heehee} always inspires me.
  3. Where do you scrap?  I have a corner in my home, just off the kitchen where I have my desk and supplies. It is a little spot just for me and my creativity. It is one of my happiest places in my home, second to the kitchen table, where we gather our family together to be and share and eat and school.

Here are a couple of layouts that Lisa created using the projects included in our April 2012 Hip Kit.  Her darling daughters are the stars of these two layouts.  I love all of the layering and detail that she adds to her layouts.  The curled up corners, distressed edges, machine stitching.  Each of these are just little things – but they add so much to her projects.  Great job Lisa!!!  I can’t wait to see what else you have in store for us this month.  :)

April 2012 Hip Kit… Beautiful Card Collection by Cindy Stevens…

31. May 2012 05:33 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!

It is Kimberly here today!  I have a beautiful collection of cards to share with you today created by Cindy Stevens using our bright and cheery April Hip Kit.

I love how she layered her embellishments over the die cut journaling block.  It really draws your eye to the sentiment.  Plus this card has just great dimension.  It makes you want to reach out and touch it.

Thankful hello card

I love the lacey doily that Cindy used for the background of her second card.  They are inexpensive and add beautiful detail to any project.  Also, I am a complete sucker for butterflies!  They add such a whimsical touch to her card.  I use my butterfly punch all the time!
Thankful lotta lovely card
This next card is so cheery!  The kraft pennant really guides your eye from the top of the card all the way to the bottom – so you can take in each detail.  The Jillbean “sunshine” sticker coordinates perfectly with the Lilybee blue and yellow polka dot patterned paper.  It looks like they were just made to go together.  :)
Thankful sunshine card
A tag is a great way to embellish a scrapbook layout or a package.  I love the way she included the mini clothes pin from our April Embellishment Add-On Kit.  They are sooo cute!!!  Wouldn’t getting a package with this little tag put a smile on your face?
Thankful tag
Thanks for stopping by today!  Make sure to come back tomorrow – as we will be debuting our fabulous May 2012 Hip Kit & all of the Add-On Kits to coordinate with it!

Happy Thursday!  The weekend is almost here!

April 2012 Hip Kit… A Fabulous Spring Layout by Bethany Crowell…

31. May 2012 03:55 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , ,   //   Comments

Hi all!

Bethany here today to share one more layout created with our fantastic April Hip Kit. We're in full on gardening mode here at our house...LOTS of rain, little spurts of glorious sunshine...and the weeds go wild! Our yard is coming alive...one of the first peonies actually opened up yesterday and my Cecile Brunner rose bushes are an explosion of fragrant blooms! I absolutely love this time of year. The Jillibean Soup cardstock stickers included in this kit are perfect for garden themed layouts!

Here's a layout I was inspired to create about our first garden...

Our yard has evolved quite a bit over the 11 years that we've lived here, so it was fun to look back at these old photos and finally document what our garden looked like back then! I should really get outside & snap some photos of what it looks like now so I can document that too!

Happy scrapping~

April 2012 Hip Kit… A Simple Elegant Card by Melanie Jarocki…

29. May 2012 04:20 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , ,   //   Comments

This is Melanie bringing you a simple, yet elegant card that is easy to mail that I created with our April Hip Kit.

It's fun to add the dimensional elements to our cards, but sometimes we need the cards to be more on the flat-side so they can be mailed in a regular A2 envelope.

Card-Birthday-Wishes

For this card, I cut out one of the Studio Calico journaling cards and matted it on the Crate Paper red print. I tucked a strip of the grey dot paper inside one edge, then zigzag stitched the journaling card side. Next, I placed the combo on the yellow cardstock and added some of the baker's twine. To draw the eye to the sentiment I trimmed the leftover edging from the Crate Paper border sticker.

Thanks for visiting today.  Make sure to stop by tomorrow for a fabulous Tutorial Tuesday video featuring the Mister Huey’s Mist & Huey Masks.  :)

April 2012 Hip Kit… A Great Card by Kristin Kingrey…

Hi Everyone…

It is Kristin here today to share a card that I made using our April Hip Kit.   I loved the limes and the sentiment on the Jillibean – Soup accent stickers.  I added a some Glossy Accents to the “Salty or Sweet” sticker to create a unique epoxy sticker.  Cute, eh?

it's 5 o'clock

For some reason, the whole time I was making this card, the Alan Jackson song, "It's 5 o'clock Somewhere" kept popping into my mind. Perhaps it was because a margarita sounded so delicious and it was only 10 am.

Thanks for visiting today.  Make sure to stop by tomorrow for another fantastic project created with our April Hip Kit.

April 2012 Hip Kit… Beautiful Card by Melanie Jarocki…

Melanie here today to share a very light, airy card  that I made using our April Hip Kit.  The idea for this card came from the tiny "You make my heart flutter" sticker on the Jillibean Soup sticker sheet.
Card-Heart-Flutter

Because the sentiment was tiny, I didn't want it overpowered by any embellishments. So I decided to keep the color light and have the embellishments blend into the background. Adding in the flower brad and the twine "grounds" the card, giving the eye somewhere to begin looking at the card.

Card-Heart-Flutter-detail1

I used both sides of the Crate Paper floral and pink diagonal stripe paper, for the layers and the butterflies. To give the sentiment sticker some balance with it's darker pink color, I added in the heart and star stickers, too.

For more dimension to the card, I pulled up the wings of the butterflies after adhering the center of each on to the card with mini glue dots.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Make sure to visit tomorrow for another awesome project created with our April Hip Kit.  Happy scrapping!

April 2012 Hip Kit… Layout by Kristin Kingrey…

25. May 2012 17:18 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!

It is Kristin here today to share a layout that I created with our April 2012 Hip Kit.  I have to say that I just love the Crate Paper Chipboard Accents that were included in our April Embellishment Add-On Kit.  They are beautiful on their own, but when you pair them up with all of the other awesome things in this month’s kit you can’t help but create something wonderful.  One of the best things about our Hip Kits is seeing what each designer does with them.   Each style and interpretation are so different.  I get inspired every time I see a new project posted.

So the layout that I am sharing with you today is made with a photo of my 3 year old daughter, Sami.  She absolutely loves to get her picture taken.  She is my little fashion model.   She loves to pose, so we have little mini photo shoots all the time!   This picture is from one of those shoots.

The flowers and colors in our April Hip Kit perfectly matched my photo.  I love the Crate Paper Border Stickers…  and I used a lot of them on this page.  I also added some machine stitching onto my layout to finish it off.   Stitching adds such great detail -  sometimes tiny little things make a big difference.  Stitching is one of those things for me.  If you have never stitched on a layout I encourage you to get out your sewing machine and give it a try.  No sewing machine?  Use your paper piercer and stitch by hand.  You will love the result!

Happy Scrapping and have a great weekend!

April 2012 Hip Kit… Project Life Spread by Melanie Jarocki…

23. May 2012 18:25 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!

A few weeks ago, Kimberly and I talked about featuring a Project Life spread using our April 2012 Hip Kit.  I had been working on Project Life since January--keeping up on the journaling, put not the layouts each week. My talk with Kimberly was just the push I needed to get things together.

PL-5-13

I decided to just go with the current week, instead of trying to back-track

PL-LS-5-13

The week title block uses the yellow grid pattern paper, along with the Jillibean Soup letter/number stickers and mini Lilybee alphas. I added a Studio Calico wood veneer with the grey dot pattern inside.

PL-LS-5-13-detail

Some of my photos I printed two-up on wallet size prints. In addition to the Project Life journaling cards I ordered in December with the divided page protectors, I used the grey gingham paper, too, for one of my journaling places.

PL-RS-5-13

For continuity across the week spread, I used the yellow grid paper again, along with another wood veneer shape in one of the pockets. To help with specifics, I wrote in the photo margins with a thin sharpie pen. For fun little details, I added in the mini Jillibean shape (stars, hearts, tags) stickers here and there in the spread.

I really hope this helps you see how to use the Hip Kits in your Project Life album. You'll be seeing more of these weekly spreads from me :)

Happy Scrapping!

:)Melanie
