Hi friends!
Bethany here today to share a layout I created with the super fun March Hip Kit...

DSC_1045

I absolutely love all the cheery spring colors in this kit! The sweet October Afternoon floral patterned paper is one of my favorites...totally love the blue and red color combo...with a splash of happy yellow!

DSC_1048

For one of the banner pieces along the top of this layout, I used one of the American Crafts 'Jared' clear stamps from our March Embellishment Add-On kit...see that cute, yellow chevron patterned banner piece? That's the one!

A little stitching across the alpha stickers adds a little more detail...

March 2012 Hip Kit… Layout #3 by Bethany Crowell…

Hi all!

Bethany here to share another layout that I created using the super spring-y March Hip Kit.
I really love the sweet colors and prints in this kit. The patterned papers are so fun to mix and match. I used a lot of different patterns on this layout...and yet they all coordinate and contrast so well!  That's one of my favorite things about the Hip Kits that Kimberly puts together...the colors and patterns are always so fresh and fun and are so great to mix and match together!

DSC_1235

Lots of layers...including that wonderful Studio Calico tissue paper trim! I also did a little fussy cutting on the sweet October Afternoon patterned paper so I could use some of these sweet floral clusters as embellishments.

DSC_1231

Another thing I love about this kit, is the variety of alphas. Just like the patterned papers, the alphas are super fun to mix and match for the title on a page!

Hope you're having fun creating with your March Hip Kit!

Happy crafting~

March 2012 Hip Kit… Cards 3 & 4 by Bethany Crowell…

22. April 2012 06:14 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , ,   //   Comments

Hi friends!
Bethany here to share a couple more cards that I created with the super sweet March Hip Kit.
I had made some layered box flowers for my 'Sweet Clara' layout and had some extras...one of which made a perfect addition to this card. I love the spring green, cherry red, sunshine-y yellow and robins egg blue color combo on this card...

Card 3

Caution: looking at this next card may cause your eyes to go goofy! I think this white and green polka dot paper is super cute...but now that I look at it, it does make my eyes feel a little funny! :D

DSC_1255

I used one of the layered embellishments that I created for my Tuesday Tutorial on this card to dress it up a bit and also used my Martha Stewart fringe scissors to create the 'grass' for some added texture.

Here's a peek inside...  Love that 'THANKS' banner piece from the clear stamp set included in the March Embellishment Add-On Kit!

Thanks for visiting and happy crafting!

Tutorial Tuesday… Layered Flowers by Bethany Crowell….

17. April 2012 03:38 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , ,   //   Comments

Hi friends! Bethany here today for this week's Tuesday Tutorial.
I always love all of the patterned papers that Kimberly selects for our fabulous Hip Kits. I'm pretty sure I am not alone when I say that I have a hard time parting with any leftover scraps from my kits...am I right? Since I'm fairly certain there was a resounding 'YES!' to that question, I want to share a fun way to use up those awesome scraps.

First, gather up your paper scraps! Check out this happy pile of scraps on my table..

DSC_1207

Then gather a variety of different shape punches and start going punch happy! Punch a variety of different shapes & sizes from your scraps. I'm really loving the Martha Stewart butterfly punch for all my spring projects! I also used a couple different scalloped circles, plain circles, a sweet flower shape and Jenni Bowlin's mini prize ribbon punch.

DSC_1209

After you have a variety of colors and shapes punched, just start playing with layering...

DSC_1216

Once you have different papers layered, you can add buttons, bling, and cabochons. You can glue them together, stitch them together or staple them together using Tim Holtz's Tiny Attacher. The possibilities are endless! And in no time at all, you'll end up with a bunch of darling, custom embellishments to use on your projects!

I must admit...making these little layered embellies gets a bit addicting! It's such a fun way to use up some of your scrap stash...hope you're inspired to play!

March 2012 Hip Kit… Layout #2 by Bethany Crowell…

Hello!
Bethany here today to share another layout that I created with the fabulous March Hip Kit.

Layout _2 Eggcellent Fun

I must admit, I went a little crazy on the paint splatters here, but I think it created a fun background for these photos of dyeing Easter eggs. I also used one of the clear stamps from the American Crafts 'Jared' set that was part of the March add-on kit...that cute little circle stamp. It added the perfect touch to the colorful background.

Did your family dye eggs this year? Or go on an egg hunt? Hope you captured some of those fun Easter moments! Now's the time to print off all those photos and get out your March kit!

Happy scrapping!

January 2012 Hip Kit… Projects by Bethany Crowell…

Oh my gosh!!!  I am not sure how this happened, but I inadvertently forgot to post this wonderful collection of projects by Bethany Crowell that were created with our January 2012 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits.  My sincere apologies go out to everyone for not being more timely with this post.  This must be what happens when you are over 40 – you become forgetful or I have come down with adult onset ADD!  Both could be likely possibilities.  he he

Bethany is amazing at using her Mister Huey Mists.  I love the doily masks on her “Camera Shy” layout.  It created such a unique background for her page.  I also love the way she incorporated the Studio Calico Tissue Trim on her layouts and cards.  Notice the pleated ruffles on several of her projects and the flower she created on her “Time 2 Celebrate” card.  Bethany you are so talented!!!  I am so sorry it has taken me so long to get your awesome projects added to our blog.

Enjoy!!!

March 2012 Hip Kit… Cards 1 & 2 by Bethany Crowell…

12. April 2012 03:31 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , ,   //   Comments

Hi friends!
Bethany here today to share a couple of super quick and easy cards that I created using the March Hip Kit. The October Afternoon Flyers in this kit are one of the cutest embellies ever, and I think the sweet little Robin on it could help us celebrate spring or a birthday!

Celebrate Card

The background grid stamp I used on this card is another of the acrylic clear stamps from the March Embellishment Add-On Kit.   Super fun eh?  I used that same stamp on the card I created with the sketch here...

DSC_1079

See the subtle green grid stamped on the green paper?  I love how the stamp adds a little boost of texture to the background of this card and the 'Celebrate' card above!

This next card has got to be the easiest card ever!  I whipped up this simple birthday card in minutes...  which is perfect for me, as I always seem to need a card at the very last minute!  The Pebbles Hip Hip Hooray Stitched Dimensional stickers in this kit were the perfect touch for this card...  and is what made it come together so fast!

DSC_1093

The Pebbles embellishments are exactly 1" in diameter, so using my 1" circle punch I punched out three other circles from scraps of paper in our kit.  Lined them up, stitched them down, added a sentiment and voila!  A cute, simple birthday card in minutes!
