January 2013 Hip Kit… A Christmas page by Kimberly Hutchison…

22. February 2013 05:55 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!

Today I have a layout that I created using a Christmas photo along with our fabulous January Hip Kit.  I know that many of you might not think that the products in our January kit would be a good fit for Christmas photos… but it is!!!  It is not so much about patterns and icons – as it is about colors and a feel.

Nana and GirlsI used a ruler and my craft knife to cut the aqua chevrons out of the Crate Paper Fourteen Sparks paper.  Then I machine stitched them to my background paper.  I cut them down a bit… so that they didn’t take over my page.  I really like the subtle texture they give to the foundation of my layout.
Nana LO Detail 3The gold polka dot vellum from our January Embellishment Add-On Kit is one of my favorite products from this month’s collection.  I love the way it looks when you layer if over other papers, and I love the shine that the metallic polka dots have without having a sparkle to them.  The gold worked well with my Christmas photo – because it gave my page a festive feel.
Nana LO Detail 5The aqua & white washi tape at the very top and bottom of my layout was from my stash.  I needed something with a strong repetitive pattern to give weight to the top of my page.  Having a handful of different colors and patterns of washi tape in your stash – comes in really handy.

I hope my page has inspired you to try to scrap a holiday themed photo using “non-holiday” related products in one of your Hip Kits.  If you do…  you can share your layout with us on by posting in on our Facebook page.  We would love to see what you create!!!  We will have more awesome projects created with our January Hip Kit to share with you this weekend… so make sure to check back.  Have a scrappy day!  xo – Kimberly -

November 2012 Hip Kit… Christmas Eve layout by Kimberly…

Hi Everyone!

I know about you, but Cindy’s 8.5”x11” layouts have inspired me to create one of my own… and I have to say that it was a lot of fun, and I am really happy with the way it turned out.  Each year on Christmas Eve the girls all get to open one gift from my mom, and it is always Christmas pajamas.  This tradition started when they were babies and it continues today.  The photo that I used on my page is about 10 years old – and I love expressions on each of their faces and I love how well it coordinated with the products in our November Hip Kit.

The

Sleigh Ride Tag Cuts Paper is one of my favorite products in this kit.  It is so versatile and it has so many different patterns, colors and sentiments on it.  Many of the tags are great for journaling, and some are wonderful to use a an embellishment for your project.  I used three tags and a tab on this page.  One tag for journaling – which I hid inside a glassine bag, and two others to add a little extra pattern and a splash of color.  The layers also give a lot of texture and some dimension to my layout.

I adore the Studio Calico Alphabet Stickers that were included in our
main kit.  The font is perfect for holiday projects.  The addition of machine stitching to my title is a nice little detail.

The Sleigh Ride Chipboard Accents & OA Make It Merry Word Stickers (both from our November Embellishment Add-On Kit) will make embellishing your holiday and winter projects a breeze.  I love how that sweet pink present looks on my page, and the “Merry & Bright” sticker adds a nice finishing touch.

Thanks for coming by today.  I hope my projects has inspired you to create a few layouts using some of your holiday photos from this year or years past.  Scrapbooking allows you to revisit some of those special moments again.  Happy scrapping!  xo Kimberly

November 2012 Hip Kit… Two sweet cards by Kimberly Hutchison…

Happy New Years Eve!

New Years Eve here… is going to consist of a quiet evening.  Madeleine and Megan are going to scrapbook with me, and Bob is going to watch some football games he recorded.  Mackenzie is with her friend, Jane and her family at a snowy cabin in eastern Washington.  All is good here at the Hutchison house – and I hope all is good with you and your families.

But, before the festivities start I wanted to share a couple more cards that I created with our November 2012 Hip Kit.  I am sure that many of you have sent out all of your cards for this year, but you can used the card ideas to create embellishment clusters on your holiday scrapbook layouts… or you can send out a wintery New Years card.

IMG_1572 How cute is this little wintery snowman card?!  I cut out a snowflake with my new Christmas gift…  (a Silhouette Cameo) which I LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!  I misted it with the silver Mister Huey Mist and added some splatters to the background of my card (from our Embellishment Add-On Kit).  I think it gives it a real wintery feel.  The sentiment is a little flag banner cut from the Sleigh Ride Tag Cuts paper.  I think the ribbon, masking tape sticker and button are the perfect accents to finish my card.

IMG_1576I love the striped October Afternoon paper that I used for the background of my card.  It was the perfect canvas for the music print die cut and other elements that I used.  Subtle but not plain.

IMG_1580

The candy cane stripe paper from Lilybee Design was one of my favorite papers in our November Hip Kit.  Nothing says Christmas like a candy cane stripe!  :)  The Sleigh Ride Tag Cuts paper has so many wonderful tags, tabs and pennant banners that  are perfect for card making.  I combined the “Merry & Bright” tag along with a masking tape sticker, a couple of Ephemera die cuts, a button and an Enamel Dot (from our Embellishment Add-On Kit) to create this festive card.
IMG_1584The addition of machine stitching with silver thread around the perimeter of my card gives it s nice finished look.  I also tied a bit of silver thread through the little button.

Thanks so much for visiting today!  I hope you are inspired to continue your holiday crafting by scrapping some of your holiday photos and creating a belated Christmas card or sending a couple of New Years cards.  Stop by again tomorrow…  because I will have a few more November Hip Kit projects to share with you.

Wishing you all a very happy & safe New Year!!!  xo – Kimberly -

November 2012 Hip Kit… Three festive projects by Cindy Stevens…

30. December 2012 08:32 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , , , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!

I hope you have all been enjoying your holiday season.  Things have been quite busy around our house with shopping trips, wrapping, cooking, baking and celebrating.  My mom was here for a week – which was a lot of fun for all of us.  The girls all had Christmas money to spend, so shopping was on the agenda for the day after Christmas.  Fortunately, Megan can drive – so my mom and I stayed home – away from the crowds.  We have no big plans for New Years…  we will probably stay home and play some games – which sounds perfect to me!

I do have some amazing projects to share with you today…  that were created by Cindy Stevens using our November 2012 Hip Kit & Embellishment Add-On Kit.  Her layouts are absolutely fabulous and will surely inspire you to get your holiday photos printed & pull out your November kit and create something wonderful yourself.  :)

IMG_1208

I love the banner in the upper lefthand corner of her page – the little chipboard buttons give texture and dimension to her layout.  I adore the chipboard snowman from the Sleigh Ride chipboard accents (included in our
Embellishment Add-On Kit).  I used that little guy on a card that I will be sharing with you tomorrow.  :)

IMG_1211

How cute are all of the bits and pieces from the Studio Calico Wonderland Ephemera?  There are so many fun little things to choose from…  snowflakes, stars, words, buttons & sequins.  The My Mind’s Eye Enamel Dots from our
Embellishment Add-On Kit are great little accents when you need something smaller than a button, but don’t want the sparkle of a jewel.

IMG_1223

One of the most amazing things about Cindy’s layouts is that they have so many layers to them.  Layers give so much texture and they draw the eye into the page.

IMG_1218

I adore the silver glitter Thickers from our
November Embellishment Add-On Kit!!!  They add just the perfect bit of sparkle to titles and captions… and they are small enough to be used to create simple sentiments on cards.
IMG_1238

How cute is this little card?  I love the combination of patterned paper and embellishments and the touch of yellow… makes it so cheery.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Make sure to come back again tomorrow to see another collection of projects created with our festive
November Hip Kit.  xo Kimberly

This morning I found a quiet moment and I wanted to share a few holiday projects created by Cindy Stevens using our November 2012 Hip Kit.  These projects with surely get you in the holiday spirit…  and if you have some last minute wrapping to do…  there are a couple of simple gift tag ideas.  Adding a handmade gift tag will make your gift even more special.

November 2012 Hip Kit… Holiday cards by Kimberly Hutchison…

19. December 2012 04:03 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , , , ,   //   Comments

Happy December 19th!!!

I can’t believe that Christmas is only 6 days away!  As much as I love the holiday itself…  I love the holiday season and all of the excitement and festiveness leading up to Christmas.  I don’t want these last days to pass too quickly…  because I am not done enjoying them.  Yesterday, I turned on Christmas music, and went into my craft room and made a few holiday cards with my November Hip Kit.  I hope they inspire you to put together a few cards for your loved ones this year.  Enjoy!!!

IMG_1569

I love the Sleigh Ride Masking Tape Stickers from our main kit.  They are great little accents for cards, scrapbook layouts and other projects.  The snow scene sticker – was the perfect for my card.  To give it a little sparkle, I splattered a little silver Mister Huey Mist (from our November Embellishment Add-On Kit) to the upper left and lower right corners of my card.  The splatters make me think of snowflakes.

IMG_1567

I added a bit of machine stitching with silver thread.  The Sleigh Ride “Let It Snow” chipboard accent was the perfect sentiment for my card.  To finish it off I added a snowflake that I punched from vanilla cardstock, and one of the Enamel Dots (from our Embellishment Add-On Kit).  I love this card!!!

IMG_1586

I used a couple more Masking Tape Stickers on this card.  There are so many designs to choose from on that one sheet.  I cut the tag from the Sleigh Ride Tag Cuts paper.  I love the bright cheery colors on this tag.  The tag gives a nice “POP” of color to my card.  I added two snowflakes that I punched from vanilla cardstock, a couple of Enamel Dots, some machine stitching, and a silver ribbon (from my stash) to finish it off.  A snowflake punch is a great tool to have on hand for your winter and holiday projects.  I use mine a lot.

I hope my cards have put you in the holiday spirit… and got you thinking about making a handmade card for someone that you love.  Thanks for visiting today.  Make sure to stop by again tomorrow to see more projects created with our amazing November Hip Kit.  xo Kimberly
