Hi Everyone!

I know it has been a couple of days since my last post.  Life here has been a bit hectic.   I have been scurrying around trying to get the girls ready to go back to school…  Madeleine and Mackenzie are in the middle of high school soccer try-outs, which has been quite stressful for both of them.  Tomorrow is the last day… and they will find out if they made a team, and which team they made.  Between soccer tryouts, shopping for school supplies and new school clothes as well as getting our August Kits shipped out, I have had very little computer time.  I am sure that many of you can relate and are busy with similar preparations.

As the kids go back to school – we all have a little extra time to do some of the things that we have had to put on the back burner for the summer, like scrapping for instance.  :D  Well, I have a few great projects that were created by our August Guest Designer, Deana Boston that will surely inspire you to get back into your scrap mode.

It is Kimberly here and I have some fun facts about our Guest Designer, Deana Boston, that I want to share with you today, along with some FABULOUS projects that Deana created using the products in our July Hip Kit and Add-On Kits ….  :D

• What are your top 5 favorite products & why? I  love all things Nikki Sivils (I’ve designed for her since the beginning of her business).  I love Bella Blvd & Echo Park for their fun colors & patterns. I’m loving washi tape lately, and my star punch gets a lot of use these days too.  I will always love any & all clouds + rainbows. Clearly I was a kid in the 70’s.
• What is your favorite technique right now?  I’ve always loved paper-piecing.
•  What is your favorite color combination right now?  Hmmm...  I don't really know?  Yellow & grey I guess.
• Morning person or night owl?  I'm a little of both.  I'm definitely a morning person when it comes to starting each day with a work-out.  But I also tend to get more creative in the evening hours. Sometimes I have to make myself go to bed & finish in the morning.

Hi Everyone!   I am so thrilled to have Deana Boston join us again as our Hip Kit Club August Guest Designer!   Deana was a valued member of our Design Team from 2009 through the spring of 2011.  Currently, she is the Retailer Program Coordinator for Nikki Sivil, and her designs have been published in a variety of scrapbooking  and papercrafting publications.  Deana is wonderfully talented – and I feel so fortunate that she is going to work with our Hip Kit again this month. 

For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of seeing her work before, trust me, you are in for an amazing treat!   Welcome back Deana!!!

Here are a few fun facts about Deana…

•  When did you start scrapbooking? Forever ago. I've been taking photos & making scrapbooks since middle school. The obsession kicked into full gear though, when I attended a Creative Memories party right after Bob proposed to me... almost 14 years ago.
• Where do you draw most of your inspiration from? A photo, product or something else? My creative process usually begins with the photos or the story I want to tell. Lots of things inspire me though… blogs, magazines, scrapbooking websites, Pinterest, etc.
• Where do you scrap? My craft room. I spend a lot of time in there even when I’m not crafting. I even come up with new Zumba choreography in there. It’s a big room.

Here are is a layout that Deana has created using the products included in our July 2012 Hip Kit and Add-On Kits.  Deana has a flair for creating beautiful designs while including detailed journaling on her pages. Her stories are a purposeful element to her page just like each one of her embellishments are.  This layout has a “Project Life” style on a traditional scrapbook layout.  I love EVERYTHING about it!!!  Fabulous job Deana!!!  I can’t wait to see what else you have in store for us this month. :)
