I love the layers in this page.  The Chip N’ Stick witch is awesome.  I also love the way she used both the Witch Hazel Alphabet stickers from our main Hip Kit and the Glittered Thickers from our October Embellishment Add-On Kit to create her title.

October 2012 Hip Kit… 2 fabulous layouts by Cindy Stevens…

28. November 2012 11:55 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!

It is Kimberly here with you.  I have a couple of super cute layouts from Cindy Stevens to share with you today.  Cindy created both of her layouts using our fabulous October Hip Kit – which is full of all kinds of amazing products.

Cindy projects always have so many layers and details.  I love how she used some of the themed label stickers from the Witch Hazel Word Stickers and Fall Fever Accent Stickers for journaling and embellishments.  If you look closely you will see that she layered each of the label stickers underneath other elements on her page to hide the icons and sayings that didn’t work with her photos.  This is a great way to make themed stickers more generic and versatile. IMG_0502

Cindy is a pro at creating 8.5 x 11 layouts.  In fact this is the size that she works with most often.  Every time I see one of her pages – I feel inspired to make the leap and give an 8.5 x 11 layout a try.  This might be the month that I do just that! IMG_0515The Elle’s Studio Thankful Pennants worked perfectly to create the little banner at the bottom of her page.  She cut each piece down and added the “BOO” Chip N’ Stick shapes to them.  This combination really gives some weight to the lower part of her layout.

IMG_0525Each of our October Hip Kits included several wonderful bits and pieces of the Witch Hazel Miscellany. Cindy combined die cuts, post cards, flash cards and other elements together to make really interesting embellishment clusters.  If the Miscellany pieces have you stumped – this layout is a great example of how they can be put to use.

I hope you are all feeling inspired to pull out your October Hip Kit and start scrapping some of your fall photos.  Thanks so much for visiting today.  Make sure to come back tomorrow to see another great project created with our amazing October kit!  xo Kimberly

October 2012 Hip Kit… Two fun fall layouts by Bethany Crowell…

27. November 2012 10:09 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , , ,   //   Comments

Hello again!

It is Bethany here and I have a couple of layouts to share with you today that I made with our October 2012 Hip Kit.  I really, really, really love fall!!!  I love the bright orange jack-o-lanterns, blazing red leaves, the scent of spiced cider simmering on the stove, chunky sweaters and woolie socks and the fact that there are so many things to be thankful for.  One thing I'm always thankful for is when our mail carrier pulls up with my monthly box of Hip Kit goodness...and as usual, our October Hip Kit & Add-On Kits are FULL of goodness!!!

I love that vintage looking owl & happy jack pumpkin from the October Afternoon Witch Hazel Miscellany... and knew it would be perfect on this fall themed layout featuring an old photo of my sweet nieces in the pumpkin patch.

Before I placed the die cut and tree sticker on my layout, I did a little misting on the cream cardstock background to create a “glowing” effect behind the embellishments.  The 'remember this' sentiment is an Ali Edwards stamp from my stash.  I used black StazOn ink to stamp over the embellishments and photo.  StazOn ink can be stamped on glossy and non-porous surfaces without smearing…  so it is perfect for stamping over the top of a photo.

I still love the banner trend.  I honestly don't think I'll ever tire of it!  A combination of the Elle's Studio Thankful Pennants and the ‘fall’ banner stickers from the Echo Park Fall Fever Accent Stickers made for a very fun, festive, fall banner – which was a perfect addition to my layout.

My next project is another Halloween themed layout I created with our fantastic October Hip Kit...  I love all the layers on this page...even the glassine bag that some of the embellishments came in adds some fun texture and it actually serves as a journaling pocket too!

The Witch Hazel Chip N’ Stick shapes (from our October Embellishment Add-On Kit) add just a little bit of dimension to my layout.  Layering them over other elements is an awesome way to create little embellishment clusters and it keeps them from looking like they are floating on your page.

I hope my layouts have inspired you to catch up on scrapbooking a few of your fall memories with our fantastic October Hip Kit!  Thanks so much for visiting today.  Don’t forget to stop by again tomorrow to see our next great projects created with our October kit.  xo Bethany

October 2012 Hip Kit… 2 fabulous layouts by Kimberly Hutchison…

Hi Everyone!

It is Kimberly here with you today.  I have a couple of super cute Halloween layouts to share with you that I created with our October 2012 Hip Kit.  This kit has so many fun products in it – that my pages came together so easily – and I am really happy with how they turned out.

When I design most of my layouts – I tend to leave space either at the top or the bottom for my title.  This time – I decided to run my title through the center of my page, and I layered photos and embellishments above and below the title.  I love how all of the elements are clustered together without looking overcrowded.
Night Nerd

Night Nerd Detail 1

I created my title with a combination of  Witch Hazel alphabet stickers combined with a Chip N’ Stick shape, one of the little Word Stickers and an Elle’s Studio Pennant.   The main part of my title included the orange Witch Hazel alphabet – but I felt like they needed to be a bit more substantial. So, matted the orange alphas with black cardstock.  This little trick made my title stand out better.

Night Nerd Detail 2

Packaging always comes in handy.  I used the little glassine bag from my kit to hide a couple of journaling tags.  I wanted to give it a bit more detail so I machine stitched along the sides of the bag.  I also layered a few of the Witch Hazel Miscellany cards with it.  I misted a couple of the Studio Calico Veneer Arrows (from a previous month’s Hip Kit) with October Afternoon Midnight Sprinker Mist (from our October Embellishment Add-On Kit).  These black accents gave my page a great little finishing touch.

Ladybug

These are some of my favorite photos of my daughter, Mackenzie.  She was 11 at the time – and was full of personality and didn’t care about being silly.  I layered one of the Miscellany cards underneath the photos, but I wanted it to stretch vertically on my page.  So, I cut it in half – having it appear longer gave my page that vertical line that it needed.  Plus I love having all of the little details on that card showing.

Ladybug 1

I love the glittery Thickers from our Embellishment Add-On Kit.  The aqua blue glittered letters were perfect for my title because they stand out against the other bold patterns on my page.  Plus, they gave the splash of blue that my page needed.

Ladybug 3

I layered the velvet ric rac under my photos, and added a zig zag stitch to secure it to my page.  This gave my layout nice texture and an interesting detail.

Ladybug 2

I hope you are feeling inspired to create something wonderful with your October Hip Kit.  Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Tomorrow, we will have another great project to share with you that we made with our October kit – so make sure to come back to check it out.  xo – Kimberly -

October 2012 Hip Kit… A sweet Halloween layout by Melanie Jarocki…

15. November 2012 08:08 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!

It is Melanie here with you.  After we celebrated Halloween a couple of weeks ago -  I was really excited to dig into my October Hip Kit to make some spooky projects.  While I waited for the ink to dry on my pictures from THIS year, I came across these photos from 2007 that I hadn’t scrapped yet, and I thought NOW would be a great time to get that done. :)

LO-Halloween-2007

I kept the design simple - but added in some of the fun embellishments from our October kit for an extra-special touch. :D  The October Afternoon Witch Hazel Chip N’ Stick shapes (from our Embellishment Add-On Kit) really made my layout come alive with the Halloween-theme.  The Word Stickers from October Afternoon provided a nice journaling spot  for me to write – and the little witch on it is super cute too!  Border with the words at the bottom of the page added a bit more detail.  Finally, I splattered some of the OA Midnight Sprinkler Mist onto the orange cardstock.  It helps make a piece of solid cardstock a little more interesting.

I hope you are finding some time to scrap some of your Halloween photos with our awesome October Hip Kit.  If you haven’t had a chance to print out this years photos, do what I did…  pull out a couple of pictures from a previous year and get to work.  We would love to see your Halloween layouts and projects.  Post a photo of your completed layout or card on our Facebook page!  Thanks so much for visiting today.  We will have another awesome project created with our October kit to share with you tomorrow – so make sure to come back then.  xo – Melanie -

October 2012 Hip Kit… A great Halloween layout by Kristin Kingrey…

Hi Everyone!

Kristin here today with a fun Halloween Layout that I made using our October Hip Kit. I just love all of the colors and Halloween embellishments in this kit. I will tell you that Halloween is my all time favorite holiday!  I go all out with Halloween decorations in my yard. Because of my obsession, I have passed my enthusiasm for Halloween onto my kids. They are not afraid of anything. I'm not sure if that is a good thing or not.  This year I walked outside one afternoon and I found my 4 year old daughter hugging and kissing on the skeletons. Of course, being the scrapping momma I am, I had to get pictures.

Silly Ghoul

I absolutely love the October Afternoon Witch Hazel alphabet stickers.  When I put the orange stickers directly onto the teal polka dot paper there just wasn’t enough contrast.  So, I matted each letter onto black cardstock, and fussy cut around them to create my title.  This made my title really “POP”.Silly Ghoul_2

I layered a black circle that I punched out of cardstock underneath the chipboard  gave it a little shadow.  I also splatted some of the October Afternoon Midnight Sprinkler Mist (from our October Embellishment Add-On Kit) on the white background paper for a little extra detail.
Silly Ghoul_1

The rhinestones on the eyes of the skeleton were from our July Hip Kit. I felt since this was a girly page, the skeleton needed some bling.Silly Ghoul_3

Thanks for stopping by today. We sure do love having you come take a look at what we have created with the Hip Kits. I hope you have found some inspiration to get out your Halloween photos and get scrapping.  Come visit us again tomorrow to see our next great project that we have made using our fabulous October Hip Kit!  xo –Kristin-

October 2012 Hip Kit… A layout & Card by Kimberly Hutchison…

12. November 2012 05:20 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!

It is Kimberly here with you today.  :D  I have a few fun projects to share with you that I created with our fabulous October 2012 Hip Kit.  I know that it has a lot of Halloween goodies in it – but don’t let it fool you…  you can create projects for any occasion using the products in this kit.

Be Witched

I love Instagram photos!  This is the first layout that I have created using these great little photos.  This page has lots of layers.

Be Witch Detail 3

Some things I altered to fit my page. I cut one of the Elle’s studio flags in half to add a little pop of color to my flag banner in the top left hand corner of my page. I also cut one of the October Afternoon label stickers in half to give a bit of variation to that same cluster.

Be Witch Detail 1

I used one of the post cards from the Witch Hazel Miscellany to add a some color and contrast to the layers underneath my photos. This little trick added to the design without taking away from the photos themselves.  I cut the “Witch” flashcard down a bit.  I only wanted the larger “Witch” portion – I didn’t need all of the extra blank space on that card.  Isn’t that witch sticker cute?  I knew I wanted to include it on my page.  It had a little space for journaling on it that I didn’t want to show, so I layered it underneath some of the other elements on my page.  I also used one of the Simple Stories Memorabilia Pockets from our
September Embellishment Add-On Kit to hide my journaling.  I spiced it up a bit by added the cute grey polka dot paper to the top of it.  This gave contrast between the pocket itself and my journaling card.  I also added machine stitching throughout my page for nice finishing touch.

Be Witch Detail 2

I used the polka dot brad for the “O” in October.  I added Glossy Accents to the alphabet stickers to give them a little shine similar to the brad.

Be Witch Detail 4

I

used a little bits of the Washi Tape from our
October Embellishment Kit to add around my page to add some contrast.  I notched a couple of strips to create flags for the banner at the top of my page.  I also layered a few extra strips here and there to the main part of my page.  The glitter Thickers (also from our Embellishment Add-On) were perfect for my title.  The color and sparkle made my title “POP” right off the page.

Hello Card

This card includes this cute little tree from the Echo Park Fall Fever sticker sheet.  I punched the open scallop border from the Simple Stories woodgrain paper from the Take a Hike collection.  This gave my card a little bit of contrast.  Then, I cut one of the labels from the Witch Hazel Word Stickers and the Chip n’ Stick  border (both from our
Embellishment Add-On Kit) and added them to my card.  They gave it extra texture and detail.  I love how machine machine stitching adds the perfect finishing touch.Hello Detail

I hope the projects that I shared today have inspired you to do something crafty.  I would like to challenge you to create a project with lots of layers.  This is a great way to use bits and pieces of your kits.  Share your project by posting a photo of it on our Facebook page.  I can’t wait to see what you come up with.  Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Make sure to come back again tomorrow to see our next projects created with our fabulous October Hip Kit.   xo – Kimberly-

October 2012 Hip Kit… A fabulous layout by Cindy Stevens…

11. November 2012 00:00 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!

It is Kimberly here with you and I want to share a layout that was created by Cindy Stevens using our fun October 2012 Hip Kit.  Cindy added so many wonderful details to her page.  I can’t decide what I like the best. ;D

IMG_0466

First of all, I love the grey cardstock background.  It really grounds the layout – and allows the photos and a few of the embellishments to be the focus.  I will say that the October Afternoon Freckle Dust is one of my favorite patterned papers in this kit.  This tiny polka dot pattern can be used as a background or an accent paper.  It is so versatile!  The glittered Thickers from our Embellishment Add-On Kit really make the title POP off the page.  Just enough glimmer – without being too showy & “girl-ish”.

IMG_0473

Cindy has an amazing talent creating little embellishment clusters that have dimension, texture and detail.  I love how she combined elements from the Witch Hazel Word Stickers, Chip n’ Stick Shapes, Miscellany, Decorative Brads along with the Fall Fever Accent Stickers.

I hope Cindy’s Halloween layout has inspired you to pull out your October Hip Kit and create a couple fall layouts of your own.  Tomorrow we will be sharing another project created with our October Hip Kit so make sure stop by and check it out.  Thanks for visiting.  xo Kimberly
