Dahlia Love LO DETAIL 1 I love the combination of the Ombre Thickers & the Jillibean Soup Wiseword sticker that Bethany used to create her title.  Overlapping the Thickers and the “love” sticker makes the title look like a single element .Dahlia Love LO DETAIL 2The Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm Chipboard Accents from our March Embellishment Add-On Kit has lots of little bits and pieces that are perfect to give that finishing touch to your projects.  I love the addition of the little flower & heart to her layout and the asterisk to her card.Thank You CardThe hand stitching around the heart on the jar is such a great detail.  I also love how she repeated the thread by tying several strands around the top of the yellow jar.  The clear star gems from her stash are a nice touch as well.  =)Thank You Card DETAIL

February 2013 Hip Kit… A special keepsake for our soccer coach…

11. May 2013 13:42 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , , ,   //   Comments

Happy Saturday!

I hope you are all having a great weekend so far.  I know that my blog posts have been a bit sporadic lately.  Life around our house during the spring is always crazy.  As many of you know our teenage daughters play both club soccer and run track for their high school.  During this time of the year both of these sports overlap – which keeps us on the move as we watch and cheer them on at all of their games and meets.

This year I offered to make a scrapbook for our oldest daughter’s soccer coach.  Several of the girls from her team aren’t going to continue to play after this season ends.  He’s coached many of these girls for 5 or 6 years, so we thought it would be nice to give him a special keepsake from his team.  I had each one of the girls give me a soccer photo from when they first started playing… at 5 or 6 years old, along with a few more current photos.  They also wrote thank you letters, and wrote down one of their favorite memories from being on this team.

I took all of the photos and other memorabilia and used the products from our February Hip Kit along with a few other bits and pieces from my stash to create a layout for each girl.  I wanted to include all of the photos and letters, but I didn’t want the pages to be too busy.  So, I added a pocket or two on each page to hide the letters and extra photos.  After putting each page into the page protectors I cut slits where the pocket openings were so that extra goodies can be accessed without having to pull the page out of the sleeve.  I also added pull tabs to each of the extra photos and letters so they can be removed from the pockets.

Boy, it was a lot of work, but I am really happy with the way all of the layouts turned out – so I thought I would share them with you.  I think these pages are perfect examples of how you don’t need soccer themed paper and stickers to create great sports layouts.  Enjoy!!!

The dark brown Thickers from my stash were just too dark for this layout.  So, I sanded them with a nail file and painted them with School House Red Mister Huey Mist using a paint brush.  This was a really  simple fix and the font for all of the titles remained consistent throughout the entire book.

March 2013 Hip Kit… Two awesome layouts by Cindy & Bethany…

9. May 2013 09:38 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , , , , ,   //   Comments

Happy Thursday!

Have you noticed many manufacturer blogs have lots of projects with custom die-cut words, titles and shapes.  Many of these elements have been cut using a Silhouette or other automated die-cut machine, which can be really quite expensive.  Jillibean Soup created these fabulous Wiseword stickers that give that “Silhouette” look without the expense of having to purchase a costly die cut  machine.  We included a sheet of these stickers in our March 2013 Hip Kit
wiseword
Stamping directly onto your layouts is also a really popular trend. I One thing that I have never had much luck with is stamping my title directly onto my page.  I never seem to space the letters correctly, and getting a good impression can be difficult if your layout contains a lot of layering.  The Amy Tangerine – Yes Please – Remarks Alphabet Stickers are translucent and when you add them to your projects they look as if they have been stamped.  Our March 2013 Embellishment Add-On Kit includes a package of these awesome alphabet.  This one package includes 4 different colors of translucent alphabet stickers, with almost 450 stickers in all.   Imagine how many titles and captions you could create with this one set of alphabet stickers…  these will go a really long way.
Remarks Stickers

Cindy Stevens used both the Wiseword stickers and the Yes Please alphabet stickers on her layout.  The “you” and “me” next to the photo are from the Wiseword sticker sheet.  Don’t they look exactly like she cut it out with a Silhouette?  Nope, they are just stickers and they are quicker, easier and a lot less expensive. :D  Cindy used the aqua Yes Please Remarks Alphabet Stickers to create the “Selfie 2013” title.  They look as if they were stamped directly onto her layout.  I adore these stickers!!!IMG_2788

This layout by Bethany Crowell also includes the Yes Please alphabet stickers.  She used the aqua and orange (both from the same package).  One of the things that I like about these alphas is that there are subtle differences in color saturation of each alphabet.  Notice how the “m” is lighter than the “s” and the “r” is darker than the “n”.  Also when you layer them over one another you can see the mixed color, much like you would if you had stamped them with ink.  So cute!!!Happy Place LO

March 2013 Hip Kit… Four cheery design team projects…

Happy Sunday!

I hope you are having a good weekend so far.  Here in the Seattle area it is almost 80 degrees and sunny.  Today I have a collection of great “sunny” projects created by our amazing designers using our March Hip Kit & Add-On Kits.  Enjoy!!!

Bethany Crowell created these two cheery cards.  She has a knack for cardmaking…  each and every one of her cards are have a perfect combination of papers and accents.  How happy would you be if you got one of these sweet cards in your mailbox?Hello Friend Card
Simply Wonderful CARD

This layout is by Cindy Stevens.  I love the bright cheery colors and the whimsical design.  Using a black and white photo is a great idea when you are using colorful products.  This little trick allows your photo to stand out and be the focus of your page.IMG_2842Notice how Cindy added the white Jillibean diecut Placemat to the white cardstock to create an interesting foundation for her page.  IMG_2850She also hand stitched around the inside perimeter of a few of the honeycomb shapes with white floss.  This is a nice detail that adds a little extra texture to her page.IMG_2853The Amy Tangerine Daybook (from our March Embellishment Add-On Kit) has lots of interesting pages that can easily be used as accent layers on your scrapbook layouts and cards.  The chevron stripe vellum page layered under the photo is one of the pages from that book.IMG_2856

Mel Blackburn created this next layout using another sweet photo of her baby girl.  Mel’s pages always have an artistic flair to them.  I love the patchwork background and the machine stitching gives it a nice finished look. MarchKit-Lovely

March 2013 Hip Kit Projects to inspire you on National Scrapbook Day!!!

Happy National Scrapbook Day!!!

For those of you who are scrapping today, I have a few layouts to share with you that were created by our fabulous design team members with our amazing March 2013 Hip Kit.  If you aren’t scrapping today, perhaps these awesome pages might inspire you to carve some time out of your day to scrap a little bit.  ;-)

This first one was created by Cindy Stevens, and she does an amazing job at layering and adding lots of great little details to her  projects.  I love that she combined the Jillibean Wiseword “today” sticker along with the Yes Please Remarks Alphabet Stickers make her title.  So cute!!!IMG_2759The Amy Tangerine Yes Please Remarks Sticker Book has so many great icons and words in it… and Cindy used several of them throughout her page.IMG_2768Cindy used the Maya Road Fabric Tape to create the little pennant banner.  The Amy Tangerine Yes Please Daybook from our March Embellishment Add-On Kit is full of cute die cut pages that will make creating a mini album a breeze.  However, if mini albums aren’t your thing, don’t shy away from this little gem, because the pages can be torn out and used to embellish your traditional scrapbook pages.  Cindy tore the blue ledger page out of her Daybook, folded it in half and layered it behind one of her photos – this gave her layout a nice detail and some great texture. IMG_2771

This sweet layout is by Mel Blackburn.  I love how she clusters and layers her embellishments together and leaves a lot of white space on her pages.  Even though there is a lot going on, the photo of her precious baby girl remains the focus of her layout.SweetnessMarchMelBThe combination of stickers, buttons, Thickers, chipboard accents…  give a ton of dimension and texture.   All of the layers draw your eye deeper and deeper into the page.  SweetnessMarchMelB2

This layout is by Bethany Crowell.  She started with a sheet of Fountain cardstock and used used the Jillibean Soup Diecut Placemat as a mask along with some aqua mist to create this great monochromatic honeycomb background page.Lovely LODon’t forget to save the UPC borders at the bottom of your patterned papers.  Often times they  have little sentiments or decorative borders on them that can be used to embellish your projects.  The “You Make My Heart Sing” border at the bottom of her layout is one of these little strips.  Lovely LO DETAIL 1Bethany used several stickers from the Amy Tangerine Yes Please Remarks Sticker Book to embellish her page.  She added pop dots behind a few of the flat stickers to make them more interesting.  This is a great way to make an inexpensive dimensional embellishment.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you are feeling inspired to get a little scrappy today. Tomorrow I will have another collection of amazing layouts created with our March Hip Kit to share with you.  You definitely won’t want to miss them – so make sure to visit again so you can check them out  Until then, have a scrappy day! xo Kimberly

February 2013 Hip Kit… 3 fabulous layouts by Bethany Crowell…

20. April 2013 04:34 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , , ,   //   Comments

Happy Saturday!

I have a handful and wonderful projects created by Bethany Crowell to share with you this morning.  Bethany used our amazing February Hip Kit to design each of her layouts.  Each page has so many wonderful details and fabulous clusters of embellishments which will give you some great ways to create your own projects with your February kit.

Hello Spring LO

I love how she combined the Glitz “hello” die cut with the foam Thickers from our February Embellishment Add-On Kit to create her title.  She also used the “I really really like you” caption from the Glitz Bits & Pieces paper to complete her title.
Hello Spring LO DETAILThe Fancy Pants Trendsetter Flair button (also from our Embellishment Add-On Kit) along with the Studio Calico wood veneer shape (from our main kit) and the chipboard speech bubble (from our Project Life Add-On Kit) add texture and dimension to Bethany’s page.

Create LOI love how Bethany combined the Thickers from our main kit and those from our Embellishment Add-On Kit to create her eye catching title, plus if you don’t have enough letters in one set – you can use the remainder of another set you have on hand.  This really allows you to get extra milage out of your supplies.
Create LO DETAIL 1The Amy Tangerine Yes Please Puffy Stickers from our Project Life Add-On Kit are so versatile.  Not only are they the perfect size embellishment for your PL pages, there are great little accents for your traditional scrapbook layouts as well.  Combining them with the chipboard arrows and wood veneer shapes is a great way to add dimension and texture to your projects.
Create LO DETAIL 2
The Adventure LOUsing 3”x3” prints is a great way to incorporate several layouts onto your layouts with out overcrowding it.  I really like how Bethany clustered her photos into two groups on this page.  Her journaling and a few embellishments created a bridge between the two photo groupings. The Adventure LO DETAIL 1I love all of the layers on this layout.  Adding lots of layers is a great way to give your projects texture.  The layers don’t have to be big and bold, often times the little scraps and strips are most effective because they don’t take over the page.
The Adventure LO DETAIL 2

I am so glad you stopped by today.  I hope you are feeling inspired to create something wonderful with your February Hip Kit.  Make sure you visit again tomorrow, because I have a fabulous Project Life layout created by a special guest to share with you.  Have a scrappy day!  xo – Kimberly -
