Hi Everyone!

It is Kristin again today and I have a few more cards and layouts to share with you that I made with our September 2012 Hip Kit.  :D

autumn beauty

Every now and then, I get a photo that I just love and want to scrap it in a larger size – which can be really challenging.  After playing with the patterned papers and stickers for awhile everything came together.  I decided to  use patterned paper and cardstock that brought out the colors in my photo.  I combined my embellishments in groups of three, and placed each cluster in a triangle – which directs the eye across the page.

the surf, the sand__Even though our September kit has a lot of rich fall colors – there are a lot of subtle color combinations as well.  Combining the greens, greys and blues with a hint of orange gives a totally different feel.  I love the way these colors worked with these beach photos that I have been holding onto.  :D  the surf, the sand___1I cut the hexagon Studio Calico wood veneer borders and cut three little pieces from it and backed them with orange patterned paper.  These little pieces add nice dimension to my page and give a little POP of color.

pumpkin patch cuties

Fall is my absolute favorite season of the year!  This layout highlights a few photos from our excursion to the pumpkin patch.  When I saw the Simple Stories Harvest Lane picket fence sticker (from our
Embellishment Add-On Kit) – I knew it would be the perfect accent for this layout.

In addition to my layouts – I also created some cute cards with our September kit.  There were so many little pieces on the Harvest Lane sticker sheet (from our Embellishment Add-On Kit) that were awesome for making cards.

September 2012 Hip Kit… A back to school layout by Kristin Kingrey…

31. October 2012 13:19 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Friends!

It is Kristin here with you today.  :D  A couple of days ago Melanie Jarocki posted a school themed layout that she made with our September Hip Kit.  I decided to use her page as my inspiration for a two-page layout showcasing this year’s back to school photos.

By the time I got to work on this layout, I only had bits and pieces leftover from my September kit.  I had used the rest of it on my other DT projects.  So, I decided to take what I had leftover from my kit, (including the wood veneer “number” border from our September Embellishment Add-On Kit and some other miscellaneous things from my “stash” to create this two page layout.

PreK

I know I have said this many times, but I have to say it again… Kimberly does such a great job choosing products for each month’s Hip Kit.  I love the fact that goodies from our past kits coordinate so easily with our new ones.  Since Sami's skirt has polka dots, I wanted to extend that pattern across both pages.  I did this using some polka dot washi tape from an earlier kit.  The circles with the red chevrons were from last year’s November Hip Kit.  These circles match the miscellaneous red and white chevron washi tape that I had on hand.

Thanks for visiting today!  I hope my layout has inspired you to do some scrap-lifting of your own.  Make sure to visit us again tomorrow – because we will have some more great projects created with our September Hip Kit to share with you.  :D  xo – Kristin

September 2012 Hip Kit… 4 great projects by Cindy Stevens…

Hi Everyone!

It is Kimberly here with you today and I have a few awesome projects to share with you that were created by Cindy Stevens using our September 2012 Hip Kit.  I love the detail that Cindy puts into every project that she does.  :D

Our

September Embellishment Add-On Kit included these great Studio Calico Wood Veneer Borders.  They are all 12” long, but they can easily be cut apart using scissors or a craft knife.  I love how Cindy cut the number border down and accented the “8” by adding brackets above and below it.  The Memorabilia Pockets (also from our Embellishment Add-On Kit) are a perfect place for you to hide your journaling.

IMG_9800

I love woodgrain!!!  The Pebbles Walnut Grove woodgrain patterned paper is such an awesome background for this layout.  I also love the use of the wood veneer borders on her page.  By using a couple of different alphabet styles on her title creates interest and makes it stand out on her page.  Using wallet size photos is a great way to be able to incorporate a lot of photos on your page without having it look too crowded.  Plus, you don’t have to crop wallet size photos – they allow you to maintain the integrity of your entire picture.

IMG_9850

This is a great masculine birthday card.  I love the colors and all of the little bits and pieces.  The Amy Tangerine Tile Thickers from our
Embellishment Add-On Kit are perfect for making the sentiment “POP”.  The addition of the Pebbles Masking Tape stickers from our main kit are nice finishing touches as well.

IMG_9846

The Jillibean Soup Bite Size Bits paper has several fun little journaling cards with sayings that are perfect for cards.  I love how she used one of these little cards for her sentiment.  Including the paper doily from her stash is a great detail as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope Cindy’s projects have left you feeling inspired to do something crafty today!  We would love for you to share your projects on our
Facebook page!  Make sure to come back tomorrow to see our next project created with our September Hip Kit.  xo – Kimberly

September 2012 Hip Kit… “Back to School” b y Melanie Jarocki…

Hi Everyone!

It is Melanie here with you today and I have a fun layout to share you that I made with our September 2012 Hip Kit.  The mix of papers and embellishments this kit are awesome for your fall and school projects.  These photos of my little guy on his first day of preschool matched the products in our September kit perfectly.

Melanie-LO-PreschoolI layered strips of paper along with a border sticker and a journaling card along the left hand side of my page.  Then, for a fun affect, I cut apart the wood veneer banners from our Embellishment Add-On Kit and punched holes in them.  Then I strung them together using baker's twine.

Adding in the October Afternoon diecut, button, and star embellishments gives the page nice little details. I used a manila tag for my journaling and I tucked it into a library card envelope from our Embellishment Add-On Kit.  I also used the pencil stamp from the Amy Tangerine stamp set to reinforced the school theme.Melanie-LO-Preschool2

I hope my layout has inspired you to work with your back to school photos from this year or years past.  :D  We would love to see your “back to school” layouts – so make sure to share them with us by posting them on our Facebook page.  Thanks for visiting today.  Make sure to come back tomorrow to see our next great project created with our September Hip Kit.  xo – Melanie -

September 2012 Hip Kit… 2 great fall projects by Cindy Stevens…

19. October 2012 04:04 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!

Kimberly here with you again today!  I have a great “back to school” layout & a cute card to share with you today that were both created by our design team member, Cindy Stevens.  Both of these projects were created using our awesome September 2012 Hip Kit.  I think you will find that this month’s collection is  full of great products all in rich colors that are fabulous for fall.

IMG_9822

As you know, our Hip Kits don’t come in specific themes.  However, it is so easy to pull bits and pieces out of each kit and create a great “themed” layout.  Cindy’s “First Day” layout is a perfect example of this.  The Harvest Lane fall leaves, woodgrain house & border sticker
(included our Embellishment Add-On Kit) are fabulous accents for her page.  The navy blue gives a great foundation, & the splashes of red, green, orange & yellow really POP without making things too busy.  Also, notice the October Afternoon Washi Tape at the bottom of her page (also from of our Embellishment Add-On Kit)…  this is a great little place to add the date onto your page.

Our September Kit is fabulous for making cards!  So many sweet little sentiments on the Harvest Lane Sticker sheet (from our Embellishment Add-On Kit), and there are all kinds of little images that you can pair up with them as well.  Combine them with some cardstock and one or more of our patterned papers and you will have yourself a darling little card.

I hope you are enjoying a nice fall day today…  and I hope you are inspired to snap a few photos of  this beautiful time of the year in your neck of the woods.  Your September Hip Kit will be waiting for you to create a layout to showcase them. :D  You can also share your photos with us on our FACEBOOK PAGE.  We would love to see what you capture through the lens of your camera!  Thanks for coming to visit us today.  Don’t forget to visit again tomorrow!  We will have another fantastic layout to share with you created with our September Kit.  xo Kimberly

August 2012 Hip Kit… Another layout by Kimberly Hutchison…

18. October 2012 08:44 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!

It is Kimberly here with you again today.  My scraproom is still scattered with all of the goodies in our August Hip Kit – and yesterday I put those products to use and created another layout.   I am so excited to share it with you.  I hope you like it!

IMG_0893

I used 5 different patterned papers on my page.  All of the patterned papers in our August kit coordinate perfectly together – this made combining them and layering them them together super easy.  By adding the black and white borders I gave my layout a horizontal line which anchored the photos to the layout.

IMG_0894

I think the combination of glittered Thickers (from our Embellishment Add-On Kit) & the Echo Park black cardstock alphabet stickers (from our main kit) really make the title “POP”.  The glittered Thickers add nice texture and dimension too.

IMG_0899

I created a cluster of embellishment in the upper left corner by layering one of the Pebbles masking tape stickers, a masking tape sticker and a few of the mini alphabet stickers (from our
main kit) along with the October Afternoon Chip n’ Stick border (from our Embellishment Add-On Kit).  The scalloped chipboard border was a bit too long for the embellishment cluster at the top of my page, so I cut it down a bit and used the remaining piece at the bottom of the layout which repeated the scallop and red and white pattern on my page.  I stamped the “graph” pattern onto the wood veneer butterfly using black ink.  I made a body butterfly by tying red & white baker’s twine between the two wings.

IMG_0906

At the bottom of the Dreamy Days paper there is a row of polariods that are cut in half.  I hand cut each of these smaller pieces and scattered them along the top of my photos.  I really like the addition of accent colors and patterns – plus the layering gives a little extra texture too.

Thanks for visiting today!  I hope you are inspired to carve some time out for yourself to do something creative.  Doing something you love is so rejuvenating…  which makes you a better “you” for everyone in your life.  I hope you will come back again tomorrow where we will have another project created with our September Hip Kit to share with you.

August 2012 Hip Kit… A friendship layout by Kimberly Hutchison

16. October 2012 05:31 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!

It is Kimberly here with you today, and I have a sweet layout to share with you today that I made using our
August 2012 Hip Kit.  :D  I loved working with this kit.  Everything went together so easily, and I love the way my page turned out.

IMG_0879

The

photo I used was of my daughter and her best friend.  The colors in the photo were soft – so I didn’t want to overwhelm the picture with a lot of bold bright colors and patterns.  I used white cardstock for the background, but I found that a bit harsh.  So, I used some Mister Huey’s Water Cooler Mist to give a blue tint to the white cardstock.  I sprayed in the upper left hand and lower right hand  corners so that they eye would move easily from the top of the page to the bottom.  There is a lot of grey in my photo – so I felt that I needed some soft black accents to ground my page.  (the banner at the top, the black alphas in the title and the black and white borders toward the bottom).  This kind of explains the method I used to design my basic layout.  Next, was the fun part…  embellishments!
IMG_0882I hand cut the banner at the top of the page out of the Dear Lizzy Dreamy Days paper.  I inked around the edges of each piece and stitched them to my layout.  I didn’t adhere the entire banner because I wanted the edges to flip up for a little extra texture.  IMG_0881I layered several different patterned papers to create the the border.  This gave my page a horizontal line that helped anchor the main parts of my layout  to the rest of the page.  It helped pull the eye across and downward just like reading a book.  I also wanted to give some weight to the lower right corner of my page with a cluster of embellishments.  I used a combination of stickers, alphabet & veneer butterflies from our main kit along with chipboard elements & ribbon from our August Embellishment Add-On Kit.  This combination has tons of dimension and texture, and it all flows together because each item is connected to another and none of them are floating.IMG_0889I love the woodgrain Thickers!  The whimsical scripted font was perfect for my layout.  They gave texture, dimension and detail to the 2nd part of my title.  Combined with the black alphabet stickers from Echo Park – the title is really eye catching.  I stamped the wood veneer butterfly using a texture stamp that was included in our March 2012 Embellishment Add-On Kit. This gave it a nice little detail. :D   Finally, I hand cut a few clouds from the Echo Park Everyday Eclectic paper. I inked around the edges of each piece  with brown ink, and machine stitched along the bottom of them for more detail. Since things look better in 3’s, I added 3 clusters of clouds throughout the top of my page.

I hope my layout and design process has inspired you to do something creative today.  Thanks so much for visiting.  I would love to hear what you think, so make sure to leave a comment below.  Don’t forget to come back tomorrow to see our next awesome project!

September 2012 Hip Kit… A fun fall layout by Kristin Kingrey…

14. October 2012 06:46 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!

It is Kristin here with you today!  I have a layout to share with you that I made using our awesome September 2012 Hip Kit.  This kit is full of great fall colors that are perfect for your fall photos & other projects.  For our family, it is a tradition to go to the pumpkin patch every year.  This year we went to a different one and they had a fun hay ride pulled with an antique  John Deer tractor.  My grandpa was a wheat farmer in Kansas, so I have a special fondness for old John Deeres.   So, I  just had to snap a picture of my kids standing by the tractor.  I love the way that my photo coordinated so perfectly with all of the goodies in our this kit.
Fall FunTo start with, I inked the edges of all of the papers with brown ink to give them a little extra contrast against the Walnut Grove wood grained background paper.  I matted all of the Harvest Lane stickers from our Embellishment Add-On Kit onto kraft cardstock and then inked the edges of these as well.  Then, I used pop dots to give a little dimension to the leaves & tree.  The little bird has two pop dots behind him so the he looks like he is resting on top of the tree.Fall Fun__1If you look really closely behind the tree, you will notice that I used the packaging from the Amy Tangerine Stamp Set that was also included in our Embellishment Add-On Kit this month.  I loved that the grid was orange and it matched perfectly with everything else on my layout.  Take some time and check out some of the product packaging in your kits  – you might just find something inspiring & useful there.  If you create a project using packaging…  post a photo of it on our Facebook page.  We always love to see the projects that you share!!!

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you have found some inspiration to use some of your fall pictures with our wonderful September Hip Kit.  Happy Scrapping!
