March 2012 Hip Kit… Layout #4 by Cindy Stevens…

Hello Scrappy Friends!!

It is Cindy here today!  I have a LO that I want to share using photos from a trip we took last year to Jellystone Park.  My Little Guy hugged Yogi Bear at EVERY opportunity and I couldn't help scrapping it with the wonderful green patterned paper in our March Hip Kit.

I made the butterflies by running a paint brush with water over cardstock. I then spritzed 3 different colors of Mister Huey's mist (in Sunshine & Orchard) & Maya Mist (in Orange) on a painter's tray, dipped my brush in and let the color bleed into each other on the wet paper.  Once the paper is completely dry, punch out shapes for a unique, handmade embellishment.

March 2012 Hip Kit… Layout #3 by Cindy Stevens…

Hi Everybody!

Cindy here today to share a LO that I did of my Little Man using our versatile March Hip KitHe really loves to draw, but you will usually find him drawing on a whiteboard or Magnadoodle.  While this is wonderful for saving trees, it was rough on his scrapbooking Momma, because I had no artwork to stick in his scrapbooks…  until I started taking pictures of his drawings.  Now most of the time, he will get me to take pictures of ALL of his drawings.   :D  I am so happy to have found a way to preserve his mini masterpieces.

I was able to get my journaling in on these little circle borders.  Thankfully my penmanship didn't end up as messy as it usually does.

Hopefully this gets you taking pics of some of your little one's mini masterpieces.

Hi friends!
Bethany here today to share a layout I created with the super fun March Hip Kit...

I absolutely love all the cheery spring colors in this kit! The sweet October Afternoon floral patterned paper is one of my favorites...totally love the blue and red color combo...with a splash of happy yellow!

For one of the banner pieces along the top of this layout, I used one of the American Crafts 'Jared' clear stamps from our March Embellishment Add-On kit...see that cute, yellow chevron patterned banner piece? That's the one!

A little stitching across the alpha stickers adds a little more detail...

March 2012 Hip Kit… Layout #3 by Bethany Crowell…

Hi all!

Bethany here to share another layout that I created using the super spring-y March Hip Kit.
I really love the sweet colors and prints in this kit. The patterned papers are so fun to mix and match. I used a lot of different patterns on this layout...and yet they all coordinate and contrast so well!  That's one of my favorite things about the Hip Kits that Kimberly puts together...the colors and patterns are always so fresh and fun and are so great to mix and match together!

Lots of layers...including that wonderful Studio Calico tissue paper trim! I also did a little fussy cutting on the sweet October Afternoon patterned paper so I could use some of these sweet floral clusters as embellishments.

Another thing I love about this kit, is the variety of alphas. Just like the patterned papers, the alphas are super fun to mix and match for the title on a page!

Hope you're having fun creating with your March Hip Kit!

March 2012 Hip Kit… Layouts 3 & 4 by Kristin Kingrey…

Hi Everyone!

It’s Kristin here today.  I want to share a couple of layouts that I made with our March Hip Kit.  For the first one, I used this picture of Sami that I have had for quite some time.   I like to match my photos to my papers when I scrap.   So, I was waiting for the just right paper to come my way so I to scrap this photo.  The March Kit had exactly what I was looking for!

As I began designing my layout, I  had a bunch of scraps left from other projects that I had made.  So, I thought I would try to use them on my page.  I played around with layering different patterns and color combinations – and thought this one would work well.  I also slightly resized my scraps to fit my design.

To finish it off, I added a lot of stitching on this one.  Straight lines, zig zags and crazy messy stitching, I just love the way machine stitching completes my page.

The really nice thing about our Hip Kits, is that Kimberly does such a great job combining products from different manufacturers – and they ALL COORDINATE perfectly!  Another great thing is that often times you will find that products from previous kits will work well with a newer one.   On this layout, I used some random brads that I had left over from one or more of our previous Hip Kits. (I can't tell you which one because after I'm done with a kit, I put all of my brads into one container.) :D

I also used some Washi tape that was from our July 2011 Embellishment Add-On Kit.  I love that matched these products in our March Hip Kit perfectly.

I made a cute little flowers out of punched out circles. We have a great TUTORIAL TUESDAY that will show you exactly how to make these little flowers.  Make sure to check it out because you will be amazed at how easy it is.

On my second, I used this photo of my kids in their Easter clothes.  Cameron always gets the short end of the Easter clothes tradition.  We always pick out Sami's dress first and then and match a polo shirt for Cam.  I will say that he looks great in this color blue!  When I got our March Hip Kit, I thought that the October Afternoon Hide & Seek paper fit my picture perfectly.   It had the same colors as the dots in Sami's dress.

I added double layered mat to the "You put the Hip in my Hop" sticker to make it a little more substantial.  I also used pop dots to make it stand out and give more dimension to my layout.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed my layouts.  Make sure to come back tomorrow to see our next fabulous project!

Tutorial Tuesday… Quick & Easy Paper Piecing by Cindy Stevens….

24. April 2012 14:56 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , ,   //   Comments

Happy Tuesday, Everyone!

Cindy here with a quick and easy paper piecing project to share today.  When I was playing my March Hip Kit, I fell in love with the cute little chick sticker (small blue circle, below the Hip Hop sticker) but the sticker was much too small for the project I had in mind, so I decided to paper piece one in a larger size.

This is how I did it…

I started out by making my tag.

Then I punched out 2 partial circles with different sized circle punches (about 1" - 2" diameter).

Next, I free-hand cut from yellow papers since I was making a chick. I trimmed them to resemble a large apostrophe for the wing and a crescent moon for the body.

I used a foam dot to adhere my wing & used one of the heart stickers from the same sheet in a shade of orange for the beak.

As you can see, this is a simple project but pieced chick gives the tag a bit of added cuteness and a home-made touch.  Since I didn't have to worry about the thickness of my project, I added foam dots to the sentiment as well and layered on top of that pretty pink lace.

March 2012 Hip Kit… Cards 3 & 4 by Cindy Stevens…

22. April 2012 06:47 by Kimberly   //  Tags: , , , ,   //   Comments

Hi Everyone!  It's Cindy here today and I  want to share a couple of cards that I created using our awesome March Hip Kit

The first card is one that  I made using this card sketch from Mojo Monday as my inspiration.  I couldn't resist that sweet chick sticker from the Jillibean Soup sheet in the March Kit and took my color scheme from there. I fell in love with the text type paper and paired it with that sweet yellow polka dot paper.

The second card that I want to share with you is a sweet layered “Thanks”  card.  I really let the contrasting papers in the March kit do a lot of the work for me with this one and added some neutrals to balance the bold pattern on the green paper.  I really like the fun Studio Calico polka dot tissue trim that was included in the March Embellishment Add-On Kit.  It was the perfect thing to make the ruffle on my card.

I finished my card off using the wonderful baker’s twine to make a bow.

Hi friends!
Bethany here to share a couple more cards that I created with the super sweet March Hip Kit.
I had made some layered box flowers for my 'Sweet Clara' layout and had some extras...one of which made a perfect addition to this card. I love the spring green, cherry red, sunshine-y yellow and robins egg blue color combo on this card...

Card 3

Caution: looking at this next card may cause your eyes to go goofy! I think this white and green polka dot paper is super cute...but now that I look at it, it does make my eyes feel a little funny! :D

I used one of the layered embellishments that I created for my Tuesday Tutorial on this card to dress it up a bit and also used my Martha Stewart fringe scissors to create the 'grass' for some added texture.

Here's a peek inside...  Love that 'THANKS' banner piece from the clear stamp set included in the March Embellishment Add-On Kit!
