Fall is here - and big things are happening at Hip 2-b Square.  New products, our new design team, new instructors, and new classes!!!  I love this time of the year - as we all  add little more structure into our lives and find some time for ourselves once again.

"Throughout my life I've kept a journal. When I was introduced to scrapbooking after my first child was born almost 10 years ago, it was a wonderful hobby to throw myself into. Scrapbooking is a natural transition from my journals. My family is the main subject of my scrapbooking, though at times I enjoy scrapping scenery shots or just random photos about whatever. My style varies from simple and linear to funky and eclectic--whatever I'm feeling like that day or whatever fun products I have to play with!  My husband and kids often spend time looking at the books I have created, which makes the hobby even more rewarding to me. Hi I'm Deana. wife to Bob & mom to Bryn.  I've been in love with taking photos & making scrapbooks for as long as I can remember.  I didn't go digital until December '07 because I never liked the quality of photos as much as 35mm film.  Once I found a really good digital camera, though, it's been life-changing & I haven't looked back!  I was always a fan of "1-hour photo developing," so to be able to print at home makes me very happy!  Aside from being addicted to scrapbooking & card-making, I also love fashion, travel, working-out, music, interior design, dancing, chocolate, volunteering at school, my family & friends and most of all being a MOM!  Thank you so much for this opportunity.   I am so honored to be a Designer for Hip   2-b Square Scrapbooking.

"I have been happily married to Jeff for over 20 years.  We have a son (Cameron) and a daughter (Samantha).  I have been scrapping probably all of my life, I would take pictures out of magazines and brochures to post into my photo albums next to the pictures.  I started to really get into scrapbooking after our son was born.  He is the perfect subject to get my creative imagination working.  Now that I have a daughter I get to start using all the pink and girly products.  I have always loved photography and scrapbooking is a great way to enhance my photos.   I am honored that Kimberly has asked me to join the design team.  It is a challenge to make a layout with only the items that are included in the Hip Kit Club each month, and I love a challenge. "

My love for scrapbooking started the first time I walked into a scrapbooking store eight years ago shortly after my first son was born. As a graphic designer, I've always had an obsession with paper, and I was inspired by the products being made for the scrapbooking industry. Over the years the products available for scrapbooking continue to get better and better, and I am forever hooked!  Not only is creating a scrapbook a creative outlet for me--my two kids love to flip through the scrapbooks I keep for each of them. It's fun to go back and see the pages I've created for them as the years go by. I also love cardmaking and have a business designing rubber stamps. I met Kimberly shortly after moving to Snoqualmie and joined her Hip Kit Club right away. she has a knack for choosing the best products available for her kits which keeps me happy! I'm excited to be a part of the Hip 2-b Square Design Team.

Hi! My name is Eva Montes. I live in sunny Southern California with my husband of 15 years and our three boys ages 13, 10 and 3yrs old. I started scrapbooking about five or six years ago. I lost track of the exact time. Lol! Like most of you I started this hobby to document everyday moments. Then it quickly tuned into an obsession. I love to create pages for my boys and learn new techniques. Some of my favorite things are book paper, sheet music, office tags and twine. Aleene's Tacky Glue - I love it. I use it on every layout. I also love to add dimension to my pages. When I am not scrapping I am usually at soccer practices with my boys. Spending time with my family. Just being a mom. Thank you Kimberly for this fabulous opportunity. I am very excited and honored to be a part of this design team.

My name is Lilith and I am a part time English teacher in a high school in Belgium. I live in a cute little village in the Ardennes in Belgium with my 4 boys and husband. I discovered scrapbooking about 7 years ago when I was pregnant with my two sons. I was watching a DIY program on the BBC and the lady interviewed talked about it. I looked it up on the internet and I have been hooked ever since. I don't have a particular style but I love clean and simple lines, white space and clustering embellishments. I love taking my photos and making them even more special. I am thrilled to be on the Hip 2-b Square Design Team and can't wait to make layouts with these wonderful kits.

My name is Bethany Crowell.and I'm addicted to papercrafting.  I have a passion for crafting and find myself happiest when I'm busy creating--whether it be scrapbooking, card making, knitting, felting or quilting. I love color (ask me what my favorite color is and it will likely be a different answer each time!). I love the little creative details that make projects extra special. I love sifting through buttons (especially cool, vintage ones), savoring creative blogs, exploring flea markets, spending time with my family and friends, drinking coffee with real cream and having a good belly laugh (the kind that brings happy tears to the eyes)!  I live in Bothell, Washington, with my fantastic hubby of ten years and our very hairy, four-legged friend, Miss Griffin. Hello Everyone! I'm Cindy.  I am a SAHM of a beautiful, funny little boy, and wife of 10 years to an AMAZING & equally funny man.  We are proud to call Atlantic Canada our home.  I have been scrapping for 5 years, starting shortly after my son was born. Not long after THAT, I discovered the LSS and online community, and was TOTALLY & completely HOOKED!  This hobby fuels my passions to create AND shop!!

I am a DIE HARD paper addict and love adding texture and dimension to my pages with fibers, stitching and pop dots. I am primarily a layout scrapper but like to challenge myself with making cards and altered items as well. Hip 2-b Square is looking for talented passionate scrappers to join our 2010 - 2011 Hip Kit Club Design Team. If you love getting your hands on brand new scrapbooking products and you enjoy sharing your talent with others - this design team call is for you!  Both domestic and international* applicants are encouraged to apply.

Each month we unveil a brand new Hip Kit that is filled with fabulous products; patterned paper, cardstock, alphabet, rub-ons and other embellishments. In addition to our Main Hip Kit - we also offer a monthly Embellishment Add-On Kit, a Patterned Paper Add-On Kit, and a Cardstock Add-On Kit.  Each of these Add-On kits will coordinate perfectly with our Main Kit.  

Our Design Team Members use the products included in our Hip Kit and all of the Add-On Kit(s) to create layouts, cards and an occasional altered project. Our designer projects will be shared with our Hip Kit Club members to inspire them with creative and innovative ways to put the products in their kits together.

DESIGNER REQUIREMENTS:

• Create 3 single page layouts, 1 double page layout and 4 cards each month using solely the products included in our monthly Hip Kit & Add-On Kit(s).  There may also be an occasional mini album or altered project.
• In addition, our Design Team members will also be asked contribute a tip, technique  or tutorial on our Hip Blog once a month.
• Hip 2-b Square Design Team members must publish their projects on their blogs each month. 
• Design Team members must also promote our Hip Kit Club on message boards or forums twice each month.  Once following our Sneak Peek and again when our designer projects are posted.
• Design Team members must commit to Hip 2-b Square for a 12 month term (August 2010 - July 2011).
• We ask that our Design Team members refrain from designing for any other kit clubs or online stores that market kit clubs.
• Designing for manufacturers or publications, as well as teaching for your LSS are completely acceptable.

DESIGNER BENEFITS:

• Design Team members will receive our fabulous Main Hip Kit each month along with the coordinating Add-On Kit(s), at no charge. (over a $50.00 value).  Plus, we will pay the shipping for our domestic designers.  *International design team members must cover additional shipping costs to ship outside the continental United States. 
• Each Design Team member will be showcased with their photo and bio on our designer page.  A link to their blog will be posted along with their bio.
• Each Design Team member will be featured on our Home Page once during their term.  This feature will include your photo and bio, a link to your blog, a fun Q & A, plus a slide show of your artwork.
• Design Team members will receive 25% off all purchases (in-store, online, or phone orders).

SUMISSIONS:

• Create 3 single page layouts, and 1 double page layout.
• Each layout must combine at least two patterned papers and one dimensional element.
• At least 2 of the layouts must include 3 or more photos.
• One page must showcase your 10 favorite things.
• Create 4 different cards using the same collection of products.
• Create 1 mini project: mini accordion book, chipboard book or other project.
• All projects MUST be original artwork and cannot have been submitted to other design team calls, websites, publications or blogs.
• Include a brief paragraph telling us about yourself, your experience, your style and your loves. Also, tell us why you would be a great addition to our Design Team - don't be shy.
• 1 photograph of yourself.  This photo will be used on our Design Team page if you are selected to join.
• Include a link to your blog or an online gallery where you have posted your artwork. This will allow us to see a larger selection of your work.

NOTE:

• Please note that your ability to submit clear high quality photographs of your finished projects is a must. If you are photographing your projects, make sure that your flash is turned off to avoid reflections and over exposure.  Also, be careful to avoid backlit situations, as it will definitely affect the quality of your photographs.

DEADLINES:

• All submissions must be emailed to kimberly@hip2bsquarescrapbooking.com by Saturday, July 31st, midnight PST.
• We will announce our new Design Team Members on August 3rd at 9am PST.

Check out these great layouts created by our Guest Designer - Danielle Flanders showcasing the products included in our February Hip Kit & Add-On Kit.  I love the doily she used on her "Chicks" layout.  She sprayed it with Glimmer Mist to make it a perfect accent for her page.  Fabulous job Danielle.

Hi, my name is Danielle Flanders and I currently live near Saratoga Springs, NY (home of the famous Saratoga Horse Racing Track) with my husband and our 2 daughters, Taylor who is 10 and Kati is 4. I grew up in South Dakota and still consider myself a midwest girl at heart and miss the wide open spaces and slower pace. I do hope to move back some day! My style is somewhat girly and shabby, but yet with clean lines and color. Buttons, ribbons, stitching and the color pink are my addictions when it comes to scrapbooking! I guess that's what happens when you have two daughters. Let's see, what else.I have a degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology and also a K-8 elementary teaching degree, however I stay at home with my girls right now and love every minute I get to spend with them. My creative time seems to be late at night after it's quiet.I'm definitely a night owl. I am currently designing for Pink Paislee, Jenni Bowlin, Tattered Angels and Melissa Frances.
