Fall is here - and big things are happening at Hip 2-b Square.  New products, our new design team, new instructors, and new classes!!!  I love this time of the year - as we all  add little more structure into our lives and find some time for ourselves once again.

INTRODUCING OUR NEW CLASS DESIGNER & INSTRUCTOR.

  • I would also like to introduce our new Instructor and Class Designer - Andrea Ancich.  She previously taught and designed for Lasting Memories.  I am so excited that she has agreed to share her talent with us.  She will be teaching a fabulous mini album class every month.  Keep an eye out for her first class in early October.  :)

FALL CLASSES.

  • I am currently finalizing our fall class schedule.  I will email everyone with our fall calendar by the end of this week.  We have some amazing projects in the works.  You can look forward to card classes, a copy me class, kid's classes and some fabulous holiday altered projects.

NEW BLOG TUTORIALS, CHALLENGES & CHANCES TO WIN FREE PRODUCT.

  • Tutorial Tuesdays:  Beginning on September 14th.  Visit our blog every Tuesday for a fabulous tutorial featuring a technique, tool or product.  Leave a comment and you will be entered to win a great collection of products in our RAK drawing at the end of the month.  (receive one entry for every comment)  Our RAK winner will be announced on October 1st.
  • Sketch Challenge:  Check out our September Sketch Challenge to be posted this week.  Create a layout using our sketch as your inspiration.  Leave a comment on our blog with a link to an online gallery or blog where your project was posted.  You will be entered into a drawing for an awesome goodie bag for every entry.  Our Sketch Challenge winner will be announced on October 1st.

HIP KIT CLUB 2010-2011 DESIGN TEAM CALL!!!

Hip 2-b Square is looking for talented passionate scrappers to join our 2010 - 2011 Hip Kit Club Design Team. If you love getting your hands on brand new scrapbooking products and you enjoy sharing your talent with others - this design team call is for you!  Both domestic and international* applicants are encouraged to apply.

Each month we unveil a brand new Hip Kit that is filled with fabulous products; patterned paper, cardstock, alphabet, rub-ons and other embellishments. In addition to our Main Hip Kit - we also offer a monthly Embellishment Add-On Kit, a Patterned Paper Add-On Kit, and a Cardstock Add-On Kit.  Each of these Add-On kits will coordinate perfectly with our Main Kit.  

Our Design Team Members use the products included in our Hip Kit and all of the Add-On Kit(s) to create layouts, cards and an occasional altered project. Our designer projects will be shared with our Hip Kit Club members to inspire them with creative and innovative ways to put the products in their kits together.

DESIGNER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Create 3 single page layouts, 1 double page layout and 4 cards each month using solely the products included in our monthly Hip Kit & Add-On Kit(s).  There may also be an occasional mini album or altered project.
  • In addition, our Design Team members will also be asked contribute a tip, technique  or tutorial on our Hip Blog once a month.
  • Hip 2-b Square Design Team members must publish their projects on their blogs each month. 
  • Design Team members must also promote our Hip Kit Club on message boards or forums twice each month.  Once following our Sneak Peek and again when our designer projects are posted.
  • Design Team members must commit to Hip 2-b Square for a 12 month term (August 2010 - July 2011).
  • We ask that our Design Team members refrain from designing for any other kit clubs or online stores that market kit clubs.
  • Designing for manufacturers or publications, as well as teaching for your LSS are completely acceptable.

DESIGNER BENEFITS:

  • Design Team members will receive our fabulous Main Hip Kit each month along with the coordinating Add-On Kit(s), at no charge. (over a $50.00 value).  Plus, we will pay the shipping for our domestic designers.  *International design team members must cover additional shipping costs to ship outside the continental United States. 
  • Each Design Team member will be showcased with their photo and bio on our designer page.  A link to their blog will be posted along with their bio.
  • Each Design Team member will be featured on our Home Page once during their term.  This feature will include your photo and bio, a link to your blog, a fun Q & A, plus a slide show of your artwork.
  • Design Team members will receive 25% off all purchases (in-store, online, or phone orders).

SUMISSIONS:

  • Create 3 single page layouts, and 1 double page layout.
  • Each layout must combine at least two patterned papers and one dimensional element.
  • At least 2 of the layouts must include 3 or more photos.
  • One page must showcase your 10 favorite things.
  • Create 4 different cards using the same collection of products.
  • Create 1 mini project: mini accordion book, chipboard book or other project.
  • All projects MUST be original artwork and cannot have been submitted to other design team calls, websites, publications or blogs.
  • Include a brief paragraph telling us about yourself, your experience, your style and your loves. Also, tell us why you would be a great addition to our Design Team - don't be shy.
  • 1 photograph of yourself.  This photo will be used on our Design Team page if you are selected to join.
  • Include a link to your blog or an online gallery where you have posted your artwork. This will allow us to see a larger selection of your work.

NOTE:

  • Please note that your ability to submit clear high quality photographs of your finished projects is a must. If you are photographing your projects, make sure that your flash is turned off to avoid reflections and over exposure.  Also, be careful to avoid backlit situations, as it will definitely affect the quality of your photographs.

DEADLINES:

  • All submissions must be emailed to kimberly@hip2bsquarescrapbooking.com by Saturday, July 31st, midnight PST.
  • We will announce our new Design Team Members on August 3rd at 9am PST.

NORTHWEST PAPER CHASE!

The Northwest Paper Chase is well underway.  What a fun week it has been!  Thanks to everyone who has come out to visit and shop at our store.  I hope your experience was good - and that you will visit us again in the near future.

If you are interested in joining this fabulous shop hop - we still have a few passports and lapel pins available for $9.00.  Each store you visit will give you 20% off your entire purchase - plus if you spend at least $10.00 you will receive a free make and take.  If you visit at least 14 stores you will be entered into a drawing to receive fabulous prize packages.  Stop in and get your passport while they last!

Here is a picture of our make and take.  For those who received our initial make and take project - we bulked it up a bit by adding a couple of extra flowers and a button.  We had a couple of comments regarding the flower - saying that it was a bit small  - therefore we made a couple of changes.  If you live in the area and would like to visit again and pick up the extra flowers - we have some available for you.  Otherwise you can just add any pink, lime green, or orange flower and a button to your project to make it look similar to ours.  :)

This is a great opportunity to get away from the responsibilities of everyday life and do something for yourself.  What a fabulous Mother's Day gift this would be!  We have room for 32.  Bring a friend and you can room together - or come alone and make some new friends.  If you are worried about coming alone - don't let that stop you from joining us - we had several singles join us and they all had a great time.  We will make room assignments for all of our single guests.  Truly - you really won't spend much time in your room - except for getting a little shut eye every now and again.  We had a great group for our last two retreats -and many have expressed interest in joining us again this spring.

A $150 deposit is due upon registration to secure your spot.  The balance is due in full by April 30th.

Hip Kit Club February News.

Hi Everyone. 
I can't believe that March is almost here.  All of our new CHA merchandise will start arriving in March and continue through April and May.  The first CHA product debut is being showcased in our February Hip Kit & Add-On Packs.  Our February Hip Kit & Add-On Packs will be ready for pick up or shipping on Friday, February 26th.  Trust me - they are worth the wait!

I know that we all want and need different things from our kits.  Some of us want more embellishments, some of us wish that there was additional patterned paper while some of us would like more cardstock to stretch each kit a little further.  With this in mind, beginning with our February Kits we will be offering several different Add-On Packs that will allow you the option to make your Hip Kit everything your want and need it to be.  ;-D

Each Add-On Pack will be available in limited quantities.  When they are gone - they're gone.  If you are interested in reserving any Add-On Pack - just send me a quick email each month (

Here is how the Northwest Paper Chase works:

  • Purchase your Passport and lapel pin at your home store.
  • Visit each participating store from Friday, March 5, through Sunday, March 21,
    2010.
  • Have your Passport stamped by each store that you visit. (no purchase necessary,
    one passport per person.) Passport owner must be present to receive stamp from
    the store.
  • Your passport and lapel pin entitle you to a 20% discount at all participating
    stores during the shop hop*. (*certain items are excluded, please see store for

  • Once you have completed your Shop Hop, take your Passport to your Home
