Regular Store Hours Today.

by Kimberly 28. April 2010 03:17

Madeleine is doing much better today. Her pain is under control now. Thanks to Dr. Bierman for calling me back late last night. Two pain pills, along with Motrin made all the difference. She got a good night sleep. Bob is staying home to be her nurse today. She will be in good hands.  Bonding time for Daddy and daughter.  I am heading to the store at 10:30ish this morning - so - it is business as usual.  We shall see what tomorrow brings.  Playing it all by ear.  Stop in for a visit today!

A Week In My Life - Tuesday, April 27th.

by Kimberly 27. April 2010 15:24

What a day!  Madeleine, my 14 year old daughter had surgery today on her broken ankle.  She was so very brave.  She didn't even flinch when they put in the IV.  She even tolerated me taking few photos to document her experience.  Her nerves started to get the best of her as her doctor and the anesthesiologist came in to talk to us.  Just before they wheeled her off to the operating room they put something in her IV to relax her.  I kissed her, gave her a hug and told her that I loved her.  Then the nurse and anesthesiologist wheeled her down the hallway and out of our site.  This was when my nerves got the best of me.

10 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour, an hours and 15 minutes - finally her surgeon came out to talk to us.  He said the surgery went well and that she was in recovery.  I felt somewhat relieved - but I still hadn't seen her yet - as she was still in recovery coming out of the anesthesia.  Another 10 minutes passed - then 30 minutes, then 40 minutes and we were called back - She was awake!!!

We went through the locked door, walked down the hallway and into the recovery unit where we found our brave girl sitting up in her bed waiting to see us.  I hugged her and kissed her and told her that I loved her.  I was so relieved to see her and know that she was okay.  Within about an hour we were on our way home.

Our evening at home - the pain has been more difficult to get under control.  She is sleeping soundly right now.  I hope it lasts for awhile - until her next dose of pain meds are due.  I hate to see her in pain.  She is such a brave girl - and I love her so very much.

This was a day in my life - Tuesday, April 27th 2010.

A Week In My Life - I am starting over on Monday.

by Kimberly 24. April 2010 13:25

Hi Everyone -

This week has been absolutely crazy - and I have been trying to keep on top of my Week In My Life project - but haven't been as successful as I had hoped.  So.  I am going to recommit myself to starting over on Monday morning.  With Madeleine's injury, handling issues at the girls' schools, Tucker's kennel cough and work - nothing has been predictable or ordinary.  With all of this going on, it made the idea of this project all the more interesting - but much less do-able. For those of you who have been working on your book congratulations!!!  For those of you who haven't started yet - join me on Monday to start yours.  :-D

If you have participated in the "Week In Your Life" project this week - make sure to post your photos on our Facebook page -

Looking forward to a less eventful week - a little normal will be good!  Hope you all are having a great weekend.

A Week In My Life - Thursday, April 22

by Kimberly 22. April 2010 17:00

Well, no pictures for today.  My life has been absolutely crazy this week.  Today began with a half a cup of coffee, a shower and getting Madeleine dressed and ready to go to her orthopedic appointment this morning.  I haven't had to choose clothing and dress any of my kids for years.  I laughed as we hustled out the door as we were running late for her appointment.  This was very reminiscent of getting my kids up and out the door when they were little.  I was more organized for this kind of thing in those days.

Madeleine's appointment went well.  It looks like she is going to have surgery on Tuesday to repair her break so that she heals well.  This was a surprise to all of us.  They will put a plate and screws in to stabilize the bone.  This should make her rehabilitation a bit easier and shorter.  Poor baby..

The crutches are quite a work-out.  Madeleine was winded and exhausted after going from the car to in the entrance of the medical office building.  She tried to wear her backpack from the car to the store while using her crutches this morning and had a difficult time finding her center of balance.  We haven't mastered stairs using crutches.  I think with all of our outings today - we have really woken up to what a challenge the next several weeks are going to be.

It is now 10:59 and I am exhausted and I am heading off to bed.  What will tomorrow bring?

So, I began my "Week In My Life" project yesterday.  This week has already been absolutely crazy.  On Sunday Madeleine broke her ankle at her soccer tournament.  This morning our Tucker - woke up with kennel cough.  Emergency rooms, vet appointments - boy my life is crazier than usual.  Here are a coupe of photos that I took from my day yesterday.

If you are joining me in this project - I would love for you to share some of your photos on our Facebook Page.
