| I am running a little behind. ha ha. Tis the season - and I have been busy getting ready to Christmas here at home. Last minute internet shopping, and two days at the mall with the mobs of other last minute shoppers. I still have baking to do. I am so thankful that my 12 year old daughter loves to wrap presents - so I have kept her very busy wrapping all the presents, except for those for her. My oldest daughter has been working at the store to give me some time away, so that I can focus on my family. This has been a huge gift. Yesterday, while I went to pick up my mom from the airport and take the two younger girls to the mall - I had a crew of house cleaners cleaning my house. This was a gift I gave to myself - I came home to a sparkling SPOTLESS house! They cleaned every square inch. Washed windows, cleaned under the beds, cleaned the refrigerator, inside the oven and behind the couch!!! It was like Santa had visited my house and left the best gift ever!!! So, here it is the 21st, and I am sharing projects for Dec. 19th - 21st. I hope to stay on track from here on out - as I look forward to being at home more. :) For those of you who love making gingerbread houses - here is a new twist on your traditional gingerbread house. I created this fabulous little gingerbread house using a Maya Road Chipboard Bungalow. 2 sheets of paper, a couple of paper scraps, a crystal brad, a some Stickles, glitter, Glossy Accents, an EK Edger Punch, and a Martha Stewart Holly Punch was all that it took to make this little house. This is a great holiday decoration and would make a wonderful gift. The roof is removable - so it would make a great container for a little package of baked goods for someone special. We have all of the products to create this gingerbread house - we can pull them together for you if you would like to make one for yourself or a friend. :) |

The roof was made out of strips of paper that were punched with an EK Success Scalloped Diamond Edger Punch. Then I gave it a little sparkle with some Diamond Stickles. I also curled the edges of the stripes of paper to give the roof just a little more texture and dimension.
The garlands and wreath were made from layering punched out holly leaves. I used the Martha Stewart Holly Berry Punch. I put down one layer with Tombow Mono Aqua Glue, then I added a second layer using pop dots to give it more dimension. The little berries were made with Candy Cane Stickles.
To make the window sill sparkly I painted it with white craft paint. I used Kaisercraft paint. After the paint was dry to the touch, I put a fine bead of Tomobow Mono Aqua Glue on top of the painted side. Then I smeared it with my finger so that the entire window frame was evenly covered. I then sprinkled it with white ultrafine glitter and set it aside to dry. I cut the rounded tops off the shutters so that they could accommodate my garland. Then I covered them with the music print paper. I distressed the edges using my Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink Pad. I backed with window with a subtle snowflake patterned paper. Then I covered the entire window pane with Crackle Glossy Accents and set it aside to dry. Once it had set up just a bit, I glued the window and shutters to my house and finished it off with the little garland.
I used Rock Candy Stickles to create the little lights - however it didn't dry as clearly as I wanted it to. I think if I had to do it over , I just would have used glossy accents for the lights.
I hope you like my little gingerbread house. It didn't take long at all to make, just a few little steps and you have a gingerbread house that can be displayed year after year, and it had no calories. ha ha. Happy Holidays!!! |
