December Daily Page #1

I created 3-D effect by making a shaker frame.  This is how I did it..

  • Cut 2 pieces of chipboard to 5"x6"
  • Using a ruler and a pencil, create a frame with a 1" border on all sides. (both pieces)
  • Use your ruler and craft knife to cut out the center of your frame.  (both pieces)
  • Cut 1 piece of transparency to 4.5"x5.5"
  • Using double sided tape, adhere the transparency to the bottom of one of the frames.
  • Using double sided tape - layer the 2nd chipboard frame over the transparancy - making sure to create a solid seal.
  • I added a little bit of coarse glitter into the frame.
  • Cut 1 piece of patterned paper to 4.75"5.75"
  • Position alphabet stickers to that they will appear centered in the frame.
  • I added some machine stitching to my title to hold it in place and to give it a little extra detail.
  • Add adhesive around the perimeter of this paper and carefully layer it onto the frame so that your caption is centered in the frame.  Make sure to seal it well so that the glitter doesn't leak out.
  • Cut a contrasting piece of patterned paper to 5"x6".
  • Using your ruler and pencil, measure and trace lines to create a 1" border all the way around.
  • Use your craft knife and ruler to cut the center of the frame out.
  • Use your paper trimmer and cut .25” off all 4 outside edges of your paper frame – this will give you a .25” border around the edge of your shaker frame for contrast.  (This step is completely optional.)
  • Adhere pattered paper frame over the chipboard frame - making sure to line up the inside edges of both frames.
  • Use a page protector from your album as a template for punching the holes into your chipboard frame.
  • I layered another piece of patterned paper on the back of my frame to cover the the machine stitching lines from the title.

(I hope this makes sense.  if any of it is confusing - please email me with any questions you have.   kimberly@hip2bsquarescrapbooking.com  )

I wanted to make my page protector a little more interesting, so I cut a piece of patterned paper to 2"x8.5" and folded it in half.  I covered the binding piece of the page protector with the patterned paper and machine stitched to secure it.  I also added machine stitching around the page protector for a decorative touch.  I used another page protector as a template to mark where the holes need to be punched in the binding of the embellished page protector.

The dark green circles were punched out of the packaging materials from the Elle's Studio products.  I used Estate Green Mister Huey Mist to color the natural chipboard Thickers.  I also added a little Glossy Accents to the "JOY" to make it shiny.
