A Cheery Layout & Process Video by Ashley Fowler…

Hey scrappers! It’s Ashley Fowler here, sharing my 1st layout created with our April 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits. When I initially caught a glimpse of this month’s kit, I was so excited to see the Pantone Color of the Year mixed with all of those vibrant colors. I couldn’t wait to jump right in and begin creating. This layout was very simple to put together and focused mainly on the embellishments in the kit. I started by adding a stamp to the background for interest and then layered my photos on two papers from the Lemonlush collection by Studio Calico. I purposely chose black and white photos that are very similar so that the colors from the kits had that extra “pop.” I used the versatile stamp set by Elle Studio included in our April Stamp Add-On Kit to create some quick embellishments on cork, along with the sequins and embellishments from the main kit. I sewed strips of paper to frame page and added India Ink for finishing touches. Hope you all enjoy my project and a have a wonderful weekend!

April 2014 Hip Kit Layout Process Video by Kate Kennedy…

Hey guys, Kate here with my first layout using our April Hip Kit & Add-On Kits. I can't tell you how excited I was to see the Pantone color of the year, Radiant Orchid, highlighted in this kit. I am so obsessed with that pinky purple color, I knew right away I wanted to get full use of it. I began by gesso-ing (is that a word?) my white cardstock then adding color with gelatos. Watch the video below for more details on that process.   And what goes with everything??? ... You guessed it ... gold!  The gold vellum  accents in our April Embellishment Add-On Kit are AMAZING!!! I cannot wait to see what inspiration I can draw from these great products next week!

2 brand new projects by Ashley Horton…

Most of my layouts are about everyday moments...even food! That's one of the great things about preserving our memories for years to come and for future family members to see glimpses into our lives.  We recently attended one of the Mardi Gras parades in New Orleans and by the time we left,  Waffle House was the only place left open to eat dinner! But, that waffle and bacon were definitely pretty yummy, so I snapped a quick photo on my phone.  All of the bits and pieces from the March 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits, worked together to give my layout, what I call a fun, diner kind of feel . I used the DIY Shop Chalkboard Labels to ground my title and some of the embellishments.  Then I hand stitched a double circle around the photo and elements to connect everything together.

Creating a sequin pocket can be a great way to add a fun touch to your cards. I used one of the die cut pieces from the Dear Lizzy Bits pack as my base. Then I cut a circle from the Vellum included in the March 2014 Cardstock Add-On, to fit over the die cut piece. I placed my sequins over the die cut sentiment, then added a small amount of adhesive around the vellum circle and attached it to the die cut. Once the adhesive dried, I hand stitched around the perimeter of the circle to create the pocket for the sequins.

A bold layout & card by Amelie Mordret…

Hi all! It is Amelie here with you. Today I am sharing a new layout  and a card created with  our March Hip Kit & Add-On Kits.  The circles on my layout were inspired by a sketch from Elle's Studio and a layout by Lilith Eeckels.  To highlight black and white background, I chose to play with red, pink and yellow circles, the same colors that are in my picture.  I also stamped “darling”, “xo”, little camera and a chevron pattern using the Plus One Stamp Set included in our March Stamp Add-On Kit.  To make the images stand out a bit more, I heat embossed them with the charcoal embossing powder also in our Stamp Add-On Kit.

My next project for today is a card that was very easy to create. I just need cut “hello” card from Daydreamer cut apart paper.  I added a strip of charcoal cardstock and some twine (from my stash).  Next, I added a couple of die cuts, and my card was done! Have a good day! Xo. Amélie

Two adorable projects created with our March Hip Kits…

Hi All!  It is Gaelle here with you again this Tuesday.  Today I am sharing a layout and a card that I made using our March 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits.  I hope my projects inspire you to create something wonderful with your March kits.

Feathers are so trendy right now – so I decided it incorporate them on both my card and my layout.  I just fussy cut them out of the October Afternoon Girl Talk paper included in our main kit.  I also loved the American Crafts chalkboard label sticker.  It added just a bit of contrast and allowed my title to really “pop”.

The Daydream Stitched Title cards from our March Embellishment Add-On Kit are really cute just as they are, and they work perfectly on cards.  I used the “listen to your heart” title card on this project.  It came layered and stitched with the imperfect red stitching, so half of the work was already done for me.  I layered the title card onto white cardstock and a piece of aqua patterned paper from our main kit.  Then I added a few fussy cut feathers, a chipboard heart and some enamel dots from our March Color Add-On Kit.  To finish it off, I did just bit of machine stitching across the card using white thread.  I hope you will try using your title cards to make some cards of your own.
